NFL Sunday Ticket on Directv

I have this and I love it. I get to watch the most obscure meaningless NFL games every Sunday, and because I have a fantasy football team, I care about these games (Announcer: “The Rams take the lead over the Titans!” Ignatius: “So what? Hey - change the channel back to the Eagles and Bengals”)

If you are a football fan and you care about the results of every game, then I recommend getting this package. It’s AWESOME.

But here is my question - now that we will soon have an NFL team in Houston, I’m curious as to how this is going to affect my Sunday Ticket in two years. The blackout rules are assinine - this year we weren’t able to get any live local feeds from pre-season games (i.e. no Cowboys games) because we are now an “NFL City”. This happened even though our team won’t even start playing for two more years!

Does anyone have an answer? Am I going to have to illegally switch my address out of Houston?

too bad I can’t spell “asinine”

I’m sure somebody will be around shortly who knows more about this than I do, but I’ll have a go at it anyway. I friend of mine has Sunday Ticket, and uses it to watch absolutely every game he can. I’m in Dallas by the way. I’m not sure about pre-season games, but he was able to watch the Cowboys play through this feed(i.e. didn’t have to flip off the satellite and go to his local feed). My guess, then, is that you shouldn’t have any problems with blackouts. I’m know he doesn’t, but if this is a screw-up by DirectTV in his favor, I’m not sure.

Speaking as a Green Bay Packer Fan… what are blackouts??
Sorry, couldn’t resist.

The blackout would affect you for the Houston games only. Assuming that as a new team they can’t sellout the stadium. Didn’t they have to have X number of season tickets sold to satisfy the league to give them a team back?

Are we just freaks in Wisconsin that there is like a 50 year wait for season tickets. Of course that will change if they add personal seat licenses.

Blackouts are based on zip codes somehow.

Sunday Ticket is regular season games only. Sunday games only for that matter. I am sure your friend got the games off his local channels. I’m pretty sure Direct TV is offering the local channels in Dallas.
