I’m sure that won’t be a problem.
Regression? I don’t see any regression from Rodgers. I see a complete collapse by the defense. I have had not issues with Rodgers play overall this season.
Me, three (originally from S.C., now in Denver). And I am envious of you - my brother lives in Charlotte and I keep threatening to descend upon him for a tailgate frenzy.
I was nervous about this game, since the Broncos have been relatively unpredictable this year - hot and cold, crappy and fantastic.
I honestly don’t think that the Panthers can beat the Giants, but hope springs eternal.
Stupid Bills.
I was born in Western New York but grew up in New England, so I sort of have dual-citizenship in fandom, but every once in a while one of my teams can do a solid for the other of my teams.
Was it too much to ask that Buffalo beat the Jets to give the Pats a little bit of a leg up? I was thinking no, it’s not too much to ask … right up until Lohsman pulled a “Miracle at the Meadowlands” moment and fumbled the ball into an opposing touchdown when all he had to do was kneel the friggin’ ball.
Still. Seems Matt Cassel isn’t as useless as I’d initially figured. Ok, he’s still no Brady and putting up 49 points on the Raiders isn’t exactly a rarity these days … but the kid’s been slinging the rock pretty well, no?
I don’t expect they’ll do well even if they make the playoffs - which doesn’t look good either.
Alas … the year of the Torn ACL has put the whammy on New England.
Take away his 3 interception game against TB in the first half of the season (every QB gets a bad game), and he had 10 TD’s with 1 int, and 5 of out the remaining 6 games were with a QB rating about 100. Take away his 3 int. game against New Orleans in the second half of the season (to be fair) and he had 9 tds with 5 ints. And only 2 games with a QB rating above 100.
Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s doing great for a QB in his first year starting, and his O Line isn’t giving him much by way of protection, but he’s thrown a pick in 6 out of the last 7 games. It’s almost Favre-like. I’m hoping these are just growning pains and forcing too much and he’ll get back to being a bit more comfortable like the first half of the season.
But you are right on one point. The defense has been catastrophically bad and bears the majority of the animosity. I think Sander’s scheme is so aggressive that, while it does result in more turnovers and game changing plays, it also doesn’t cover up when mistakes are made, so the mistakes are killing us. I really like the system, and most of the players, but the players need to stop making mistakes.
The 49ers Red Zone offense is horrible. The routs that were open all day in the middle of the field against the Dolphins (stuff between the linebackers and safeties) simply disappear in a compressed field. Does Martz have any Red Zone plays?
It doesn’t help that out offensive line hasn’t gotten a push against anybody but the very worst teams all year.
If Terrence Cody comes out and is available at ~8, I’d pick him, otherwise we desperately need O-line help.
I just learned that they actually won yesterday. They weren’t broadcasting the game in my area, but all I had to see was the 10-21 4thQ score and I’d given up all hope. Glad they’re sticking it out a bit longer, but it’s a bitter pill given how crappy they’ve been (relative to their talent) all year.
The Bucs haven’t lost to a team as bad as our record (though the Saints come close), but if we manage to pull it out and Denver loses, I am going to have to watch that game the following Sunday (and my wife hates football, so it doesn’t happen often). Crazy stupid Chargers. :smack::(:smack::(:smack:
Well, the Redskins effectively had their faint playoff hopes dashed by the mighty Bengals.
Maybe we can spoil Cleveland’s playoff aspirations next Sunday…oh wait, that was last year…when the Bengals also sucked donkey dorks.
Ended up taking browns +16. Homer bet? Liked over 40 too.
At least we tied those bastards.
Nyah nyah.
You must be so proud of the 1 at the end of your 2-11-1.
Well, I guess the Chiefs’ loss to San Diego Sunday was the final nail in the coffin. Too late to salvage this season, but the Chiefs have decided to part ways with CEO/GM Carl Peterson. I guess twenty years in, they decided that his five-year plan to get us to the Super Bowl wasn’t going to pan out.
In a way, it’s too bad. Peterson was responsible for the Chiefs’ resurgence and success in the 90s when he brought in Marty Schottenheimer. But he’s also been pretty much responsible for our misery the last ten years.
Soon to be 3-11-1 the way you guys are playing.
Okay, and I won’t even mention that critical 1st down that was handed to the Steelers with a ball spot (and review) that was not even close to being reasonable.
Do you really want to drag this thread that way? I have to agree with Airman here: there’s the famous “non-interception” against the Colts a couple of years ago which almost cost them the game and the Superbowl. There’s been at least one catch by Polamalu this season that got nullified, incorrectly.
But still, it’s something that the Steelers were able to overcome. Why can’t the Ravens do the same?
While i agree with your overall point (i haven’t noticed the Steelers getting any special treatment), i think your second paragraph is completely silly.
The Ravens couldn’t overcome the bad call because the bad call gave the Steelers, the best defensive team in the NFL*, the lead with 40 seconds to play. Not exactly a scenario that is easy to come back from.
- Ranks - 1st in total YPG allowed; 1st in passing YPG allowed; 2nd in rushing YPG allowed; 1st in points per game; 1st in touchdowns allowed
You don’t have to. That post was brought to you by one of the most unabashedly boastful homers on the boards. Take a wild guess which team he roots for.
I really meant that statement with a and failed to include it. On me (pats my chest).
Yeah, well, we all love our teams. It’s part of what makes the NFL, and this board, so much fun.
It is hard to love the Lions. Real hard.
