I’ve been watching the rams/Washington game and the play by play guys don’t have great things to say about the refs in this game either.
I have NFL Sunday Ticket and seems like every game I turn to has some screw up by the refs.
Yeah, they called pass interference on the Steelers for tackling a receiver, then made up for it by ignoring video evidence in a coach’s challenge.
Wow, pretty much the stupidest penalty possible in the Washington-StL game.
Can we get a description? For that matter, how long until someone starts a website listing all these calls?
Not from the replacement refs. It was a really terrible personal foul that knocked the Redskins out of makeable FG range when they were losing by 3. Shanahan was about the same color as his shirt.
Well, while that particular call was definitely on Josh Morgan (he retaliated against the Rams DB by throwing the ball at him), the refereeing over the course of the entire game was terrible.
It’s just a matter of consistency. Sometimes a flag is thrown, other times somehow everyone except the refs sees a blatant penalty. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s not like the rules, especially regarding penalties, are vastly different throughout all levels of the game.
Good Sunday night matchup. I really like that the 49ers are back and the Lions are competitive.
This.
Morgan probably got lit on fire by Shanny after that. What the fuck was he thinking??? Holy shit. Single handedly lost the game for them. The kicker had a look on his face like “Seriously?? Fuuuuccckkk…” when he lined up for a 63yd FG.
Stafford not looking hot already.
Refs gave us a break on a phantom pi call early.
Made up for it by giving the 49ers a couple extra seconds on the game clock.
I also don’t understand why Shanahan didn’t go for it on 4th down. Surely the odds of converting on 4th and 16 are better than making a 62-yard field goal. There was over a minute left on the clock, so it wasn’t an issue of not having timeouts. If they make it, they’re back in FG range. If they don’t, they’re no worse off than they would have been lining up for a miracle FG.
Niners are 1st down machines tonight.
Just can’t stop them on third down.
Has the NFC West become a powerhouse all of a sudden?
49ers - Won in Green Bay and are beating the Lions.
Seahawks - Lose to divisional rival, then clobber the Cowboys.
Rams - Lose a close one at Detroit, then beat the Redskins.
Cardinals - Beat Seahawks, then win at New England.
Lions are right where I expected them when I looked at the schedule before the season. 1-1. I wish Stafford looked better, but I think the lack of a running game is making things look worse than they really are.
The 49ers are looking strong so far. We’ll see how they do with this season’s tougher schedule.
NFC West kicking ass.
I wonder if Shurmur handed over the playcalling duties to Childress this week, because the playcalling seemed quite a bit more competant.
The Cards have won 9 or their last 10 over two seasons with John Skelton and Kevin Kolb QBing for them. I would say this makes their defence - including their line - pretty good, as they’re carrying mediocre QBing to wins. Calais Campbell in particular is a menace. Combine with Peterson and Adrian Wilson in the secondary and they should be good defensively this year - it might be that the Pats will find that they’re one of the tougher Ds they’ll face this year.
Correction: Cards have won 9 of past 11.
