I know GB is struggling, but an underdog in Minnesota? Tough call. I think the best pick is Detroit getting a point at home an early game against a west coast team, Oakland.

Minnesota’s defense is for real this year, and GB is going to struggle to slow down Peterson. Packers are going to need to be a very different team than what we’ve seen the last three weeks to pull this one out.

aaaand now Rogers is hurt-ish?

What the hell are the Jaguars wearing?

Thursday Night Football is now the home of Nike’s Color Rush uniforms.

Ugh.

There was a joking reference tonight about Thursday Night Football on Elementary.

The Lions beat the Pack last week, but it was a costly win: two more DBs went down with injury, and one has been IR’d. Nevin Lawson may not play after the weird head/neck injury he sustained while trying to tackle Richard Rodgers and getting dragged out of bounds; it looked to me like he got knocked out on the play and just got dragged.

Anyways, we had to sign a DB off the street this week, with 2 of our top 4 CBs already on IR. This week’s game is at home, but Oakland has looked pretty good this year. I’m not sure we can win two in a row with so little talent in the secondary.

The upside of last night’s Color Puke combination is that yellow-blue colorblindness is statistically a lot more rare than red-green colorblindness, which was the only interesting outcome of last Thursday night’s game.

Those Jaguars unis were perhaps the worst I’ve ever seen. Like a baby poop mustard yellow/gold. But hey, they got a win.

Has Thursday Night Football helped the NFL? I seem to recall two years ago, all games were only on the NFL network (probably on Season Ticket, too, but let’s set that aside for now.) Last year and this year, the first half of the season’s games were on NFL and CBS, but the second half is only on NFL. And I’m pretty sure that - other than the first game of the season, which occurs on a Thursday but is Sunday Night Football (whatever) - it has never, in the history of Thursday Night Football, been a marquee matchup. Also, if it’s a local team, a local broadcast network will carry it.

I assumed the NFL was putting this on NFL network to put pressure on cable companies to carry NFL network, or encourage fans to upgrade their cable packages to get NFL. Has that happened?

I know for myself, personally, I would put the game on on Thursday night when it was on CBS, because why not, but I’m not exactly lobbying SlingTV to start carrying NFL. It’s just not that important to watch Jags/Titans.

Has Thursday night football helped the NFL? Certainly. More opportunities for ad revenue, another game time slot for networks to bid on, another reason for cable packages to include NFL network. They’d play NFL games on Friday and Saturday, too, if they were legally allowed to do so.

Sorry, I stated my question inartfully. Has putting Thursday Night Football exclusively on the NFL Network, to the degree that they have done so, helped the NFL more than it would have if they just let ESPN or a broadcast network show the Thursday night games?

The NFL actually opened Thursday night packages for bidding last year. CBS won and eight games were simulcast on CBS along with NFL Network. So I guess financially, there was a motive for the NFL to give up some exclusivity.

Are you under the impression this is news to me?

Yet retain some. So is that wise? Was it wise to attempt exclusivity in the first place?

If Green Bay loses this week I don’t see them going to playoffs this season.

Odd, Colin Kaepernick just placed on IR. San Francisco has folded for the year.

His only skill is his speed when faced with pressure but his weakness his passing which is not good for a starting QB.

Niners put Colin Kaepernick on season ending IR. I do not think they are enamored with him anymore, and it could be that he’s played his last game as a 49er.

Such a rapid fall from grace. I am a bad person for having a modicum of happiness that his play never lived up to his ego. Without an outstanding defense, a great offensive line, and a good running game, he seemingly couldn’t cut it as a pocket QB. It will be interesting to see what kind of market he has this offseason.

I like the skins to upset the Panthers today

It has been a wildly entertaining game so far. 28 points in the 1st quarter combined. Redskins have a kickoff return for a TD. Redskins have been hurt by penalties, including an incredible hit/fumble recovery in the air and return for a TD that was called back for the skins.
