It may be a little early to say this but the Browns have done nothing to embarrass themselves today. I have a good feeling they can make it two in a row next Sunday.
The announcers on the Panthers/Skins games just said that the Panthers have now played 2 games in a row without letting the opposing team take a snap in the red zone. That’s pretty impressive, even if it was the Titans and Redskins…
Similarly, the Giants clock management is better this week than it’s been all year.
Can my Cowboys beat the Panthers on Turkey Day?
I am glad to see the eagles lose today at home again to a crappy team
Can they? Sure. They have some momentum with Romo back and their first win in a long time. Home game on Thanksgiving. But the Panthers are a better team this year. Doesn’t mean they will win though, it’s the NFL, the difference between teams isn’t that great.
Cam Newton makes me nervous
Newton is playing great ball right now. The Panthers are pretty solid all over the field. They should get Charles Johnson back too, which will help their pass rush.
The problem with the cowboys is they lost so many games while romo was out that the giants have to lose 3 or 4 out of the last 6 and I don’t see that happening.
The pack can beat Minnesota in MN, but not the Lions at home? Of course a healthy Eddie Lacy helped a lot (not to mention lots of penalties - Packers almost ended the 1st half with NONE)
Brian
That’s why you don’t bet on NFL games, they are unpredictable
Rookie running back accounts for 255 yards and 2 TDs. Pretty good, they probably ought to keep that guy. Oddly, the PATs failed on both of his scores. The first two PATs the kicker has ever missed, IIRC.
Green Bay’s defense has been struggling to contain rushing plays around the edges. Game after game I’d see them get burned for lots of yards when the opposing teams RB would sprint towards the sidelines and cut around the edge. It was like the Packers just weren’t fast enough.
I didn’t think the Vikings running game would give them problems since speeding around the edges isn’t Adrian Peterson’s style or strength. He’s a dowhill power RB.
And it didn’t. AP was a non-factor.
Both teams passing games were decent. It’s just that the Packers had their running game working and the Vikings didn’t.
I wish I knew a bookie. I’ve picked pretty well every week.
Wise in what sense? Generating revenue, gaining exposure, some other motive? I think it was smart for NFL to try the exclusivity route at first. As you apparently already knew, they opened up some of the Thursday broadcasts for simulcasting on another network, so I take that as an indicator they could get more money from networks bidding on those games. Maybe the simulcasting deal is temporary to try to drive more viewers to NFL Network. At the end of the day, I have no idea.
That “crappy team” is now .500, and is 9th in total offense and 13th in total defense. They would be 6-4 and possibly 7-3 if not for the worst kicking performance in league history over the first three games of the season.
In related news, Jameis Winston is on pace to beat all of Peyton Manning’s single-season marks except for TD passes. He’s going to beat all of Dan Marino’s marks except INTs. He’s going to beat out Andrew Luck in every category except yardage. He’s going to top Roethlisberger’s numbers in every category except completion percentage and passer rating. He’s probably not going to beat Russell Wilson’s numbers in any category except passing yardage (though he’ll be almost a thousand yards ahead of him there); he’s close on YPA and TD passes. He’s going to beat Matt Ryan’s numbers on everything except completion percentage, and possibly INTs. He’s going to beat Andy Dalton’s numbers in every category except INTs. He’s going to beat RGIII’s yardage and TD numbers. He’s even going to beat Cam Newton’s all-time rookie marks except passing yards (he’s on pace to come up about 150 yards short).
So that’s encouraging.
Uh, what? Peterson is an all-around RB, which is why he’s been so great for so long. He ran a 4.41 40 at the NFL combine. Power backs don’t set records for breakaway runs; Peterson holds the NFL records for most 60+ yard TD runs in a career and most 50+ yard runs in a single season. He has a 5.0 average for his career. He’s run for at least one 60 yard TD in every full season he’s played. As you can see, his long runs come both inside and outside.
Be that as it may, he’s right that the Vikings favor a power run game. They run a hell of a lot more inside zone, power-o and probably even I-formation than they do toss sweeps.
True. I’m just pointing out that running up the gut is not Peterson’s forte; it’s just one of three or four things he does brilliantly.
Cam Newton scored 14 rushing TDs as a rookie. I think that number is safe…
Well, yeah. I’m just talking about passing stats.
The Lions beat the Raiders yesterday, making them 2-1 since firing their offensive coordinator, and 2-0 since firing their GM and team President.
Some people here are freaking out that they are losing out on valuable draft position, but I don’t really care about that. What I’m worried about is that they may end up keeping their interim GM, Sheldon White, who was Martin Mayhew’s right-hand-man as assistant GM. It would be the exact same mistake that we made when we kept Martin Mayhew after firing Matt Millen as GM. I think the team needs fresh blood in the front office, and I’m worried that the Ford family will see the wins after the firing of Mayhew as a sign that they should let White stay on as the permanent GM.
I don’t know about keeping Jim Caldwell as the head coach, either. I don’t think he’s the worst coach the Lions have had, but he’s not great, and he hung on the Joe Lombardi as OC for far too long when it was clear that his scheme doesn’t fit the personnel’s talents - Stafford will never be a dink-and-dunk QB, so trying to make him one was an utter disaster.
Eagles are below .500 at 4-6
