You are contending that it’s only been tried three times. Of course it hasn’t worked!
Nope, it hasn’t. And every other team in the current NFL finds that the odds of its working (nil, but I’ll concede it’s 1 in 100,000 for arguments sake) is outweighed by the dickishness of the move, the risk of injury, and the possibility of some kind of retribution.
But, again, this really isn’t a big deal. I still like you and I respect your opinion. I just think Schiano is a dick. I think a lot of people playing and coaching in the NFL are dicks (including the Bucs Aqib Talib and Lagarette Blount). If they want to continue being dicks, such is life. I won’t lose any sleep over it. But I’ll still smile when Schiano loses.
I suppose I can go on with my life while you do that.
I haven’t noticed…are the Bucs doing this when they’re within 1 score? If so, I don’t have a big problem with it. If it’s 2 or more scores, then they’re counting on a miracle even greater than the Lions’ yesterday, and that’s rather pointless. I saw Romo’s kneel down yesterday, and it actually wouldn’t have bothered me if a TE took off for the end zone and Romo chucked it to Whitten or whoever if he were uncovered. If he had been covered, then kneel down. Take the good with the bad, right Schiano?
Here’s anoth ref screwup.
At the end of the Redskins-Bengals game teh Redskins had gotten to the Bengals 35 yard line down by 7 with 7 seconds left after an RGIII spike. On the next play the Skins TE takes of early and the play is blown dead. The officials mistakenly say the game is over because of the 10 second run-off. The Redskins OC, Kyle Shanahan comes onto the field and tells the refs that this is absolutely wrong, probably not too nicely, since the clock was stopped. Shanahan is right, the refs reverse the call…then flag Shanahan 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct. But the cherry on top, they added an extra five yards, marking off 25 in total because the new refs fail at basic math.
Brilliant.
Yes. They were down by 7 against the Giants and 6 against the 'pokes.
And I wouldn’t have a problem with anyone throwing it over the top to take advantage of it either.
There should be a fine on the denver hit on Schaub that took off part of his ear.
I know it will be hard at first. Most things are. Sure they’ll be a night or two where you wake up screaming “Hamlet thinks Greg Schiano is a dick!!! WHY GOD WHY!!!” Maybe you’ll be walking down the street, and see some guy down on his knee tying his shoe, and you’ll find tears running down your eyes when you remember that I think Greg Schiano is a dick. But, in time, it will get easier.
It will get easier.
Wow, really? That’s NBA referee/federal Judge levels of retribution for pointing out mistakes.
John Fox fined $30,000 for yelling at the refs
hella unfair that he should be punished because the refs don’t know the rules
It has? How many games did Rutgers win as a result of this play?
AFAIK, all he’s managed to do in 10 years of being Head Dick at Rutgers, is force one “fumble” while his team was offside and force one fumble that was immediately recovered by the offense, not even viewable in ESPN’s play by play of the game.
Before you get all defensive about calling this working, in the words of someone who knows all about snatching victory from the victory formation “you play to win the game”. You don’t play to make a QB fall down, or force a fumble while offsides, or force a fumble you can’t recover.
Jack Del Rio was also fined $25,000, and Bill Belichick may be fined for grabbing one of the refs after the Sunday night game. Not only are the players getting chippy, the coaches are out of control!
Wonder what Belicheck will get for grabbing the ref by the arm. A lot more for sure.
After seeing all the analysts on tv go along with that story that “the center was the only one who thought he was supposed to snap the ball,” I’m glad to see that someone else besides me saw what really happened. Hill clearly expected the snap and immediately tried to sneak forward behind the center and was stopped.
Belicheck doesn’t have to follow the same rules as everyone else
He’ll get fined, too. Meanwhile, back in the land of stuff that matters, Darrelle Revis is out for the season with a torn ACL.
I’m sorry, what? You’re claiming the Bucs got robbed by bad call now?
Brian Bulaga, the Packers RT is having a horrible game. Not that the rest of the team is tearing it up;they need to cut down on the penalties.
On the upside, it’s nice to see the rookies on defense contributing. I sure hope McCarthy makes some adjustments.
Well, that and 29 points. But Ellis is a Big Blue fan, so there may have been some tongue in cheek.
