In fairness, Tebow stole that crown from Romo.
There is a petty, mean little part of me that so much wants him to get the starting job so we can see, once again, just how bad a QB he is and just how incredibly stupid his fans can get denying that fact.
If it happenes this week the Texans can get another monkey off their back. Their loss in Denver last year after being up by 17 at half came in the 4th at the hands of Tebow.
That was 2 years ago, and the Texans were 5-9 going into that game. The current team (obviously including the new defensive scheme under Wade Philips) hasn’t faced off against them. Also, Andre Johnson was out that game.
If it’s a “monkey”, it’s not much of one. If there is a monkey at all, I’d say erasing that last minute 2010 Jets drive by Sanchez would be a bigger one. That was the second last minute loss by the Texans in as many weeks in that season, following a batted down Hail Mary that magically ended up in the Jaguars hands the previous week.
They’re all painful when they come late like that. It has been two years. I guess time doesn’t heal all wounds.
I didn’t say he was the greatest kicker ever, I said he was underrated. And even with your mockery - even if he’s the third best cold weather kicker the league has seen - well, I’m right. He gets no national/public attention whatsoever, if you asked the public to list their top 20 kickers he’d not be on it, etc. In reality he’s actually one of the best, hence, underrated.
I wish someone came up with a compilation of his more difficult kicks - it really is impressive to watch, sometimes the wind is so bad they end up looking like curve balls like in the video I linked earlier.
And no matter how awful he is he will still get more press than anyone else in the NFL with the exception of Michael Vick or Eli Manning.
Oh, Tebow gets way more press than Eli. That was a running joke here in NY during the offseason, how Eli was the reigning Superbowl MVP yet wasn’t even a blip on the media’s radar compared to the Tebow circus.
As far as who’s getting the most press now, I’d say Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton and RG3.
Who dey!
