The NFL said the the Schiancoe catch was a touchdown and should not have been reversed, so that’s the end of that.
I’m sure Packers fans are duly chastened by your devastating parody. Have fun at New England next week.
Packer fans are never chastened by anything. They live in their own universe.
Holy Mother of Og. Troy Smith is going to start for the 49ers in the London game.
I actually agree that it should not have been overturned, but seriously your interpretation of what happened is ridiculous.
About time he got a shot. Whatever else you might think of Smith, bear this in mind: he’s thrown just one pick in 89 NFL attempts (nearly all of which came during his rookie year).
He was supposed to be the starter for the Ravens during Flacco’s rookie year but he got a very rare form of tonsilitis and Flacco ended up starting. He has never had a real chance to prove himself.
Nah, I got it. And, I even mostly agree with your assessment of last week’s game: the Packers’ offense didn’t look particularly great in it (esp. during the second half), and Favre certainly gift-wrapped two of those interceptions. Until the Pack figures out how to finish off teams, and sustain drives, I’m not going to be too impressed.
The Shiancoe reversal is another example of just how messed up the current rules are regarding establishing possession on a reception in the end zone. As we were watching the game, several of the people I was with were saying, “How can they even be reviewing that? He caught the ball!” I said, “Yeah, I know, but the tip of the ball was the first thing to hit the ground. It looks like it should be a catch, but the rules are so screwy now, nothing will surprise me.”
I have no idea about what to think about Troy. His NFL stats look sound, and despite playing for Ohio State, he looked darn good in college (I hate Ohio State). My only concern is that he might not know the playbook very well. That might lead a Conservapedia-level conservative offensive coaching staff to call too many runs and be as predictable as ever.
That being said, I’m glad I don’t have to watch Carr shot-put interceptions on every third-and-long (following up-the-middle runs on first and second downs, of course). It might be nice to see some athleticism at QB. Alex did well running to his left against New Orleans, Troy might have to do the same against Denver.
