Indeed. A class act all the way.
Well, you certainly can’t say Vancouver was idle during the trade deadline. I am now glad I didn’t get the Cody Hodgson jersey I was thinking I wanted. I’d almost have been less surprised to see Kesler traded off.
It’ll be interesting to see if Zack Kassian can make a useful impact as soon as these playoffs.
Damn, that sucks. I hope he recovers soon, as much as he can, and I wish his family well.
Ottawa should be winning this game about 5-0 but Tim Thomas is absolutely standing on his head.
They really need to either get rid of hits as a stat totally, Or at least make an effort to stop the blatant home ice scoring.
 32-2, Columbus against Detroit is beyond absurd.
ETA. I see the Blue Jackets managed to get another hit recorded on the walk to the locker room.
Well, that and and Eric Condra was doing his #22 jersey proud.
Fortunately, one goal was all that Lehner was going to need.
It is nice to have Benn back, and you got to love a late goal.
As bad as the Leafs have been for… well, all my life, I’m not sure I have ever seen Toronto melt down over the Leafs like they have been lately.
Yeah they went into ‘torches and pitchforks’ mode in a hurry. Wilson has to be at the end of his rope or close to it.
In fairness, Wilson should be fired.
Four times out of five that there’s a hue and cry for a coach to be fired I think it’s bullshit, but this is a rather stark case of all the objective evidence sugesting a coach is incompetent. The things a coach CAN influence are the very things Toronto stinks at. It’s very difficult to square away the fact that Toronto has one of the worst penalty killing units in the league year after year, FAR out of proportion to the team’s performance in other situations, without asking why the coach isn’t fixing that; if they were just really terrible all the time you’d say “well, they just stink” but that’s not the case.
They have young players who never get better. As much as the team harps on being young, and they are young, the players don’t develop. Even if one accepts (as I would) that most of these guys are probably not as good as the organization claimed they were initially, they should still get better. A 23-year-old players should, barring injury, be better than he was when he was 19, even if that just means he’s gone from being an F to being a D+. But what young players are developing under Wilson’s coaching? Okay, Tyler Bozak. Name another. Some are getting worse.
And the defense, oh my God. It’s just awful. You’d swear they do no X’s-and-O’s coaching at all. The only teams who’ve given up more goals are Columbus, who I believe have been mathematically eliminated from professional sports, and Tampa Bay, who don’t even look like they’re trying in their own end.
