Opening night for the Canes on Tuesday is a sellout. They are releasing SRO tickets. As far as I know, that hasn’t happened since the 2006 playoffs. The day the box office opened for ticket sales, the lines were huge.
I went to to box office today to exchange my game vouchers* and had to stand in line for 2 hours. Raleigh may be a small market, but the fans are passionate and loyal. We are ready for hockey!
*Every season ticket holder gets extra game vouchers in their package that they can generally exchange for any home games they wish. My husband and I have a 26 game plan instead of a full season, which was cut to 18 games. The full season ticket holders will have 24 games. As there were only 6 games we didn’t have tickets for, I wanted to make sure we were able to get seats for the 4 other games we got vouchers for. As it stands right now, we have tickets to all but 2 games, and we will be out of town for one anyway.
In Ottawa: Scotiabank Place will be offering vouchers for a free pint of Molson beer, free parking and free tickets for kids under 14 years old when they come with an adult.
My “fuck them all in their ears” resolve is being tested. :smack:
A vendor I work closely with has just invited me to opening day at Joe Louis, low row. I’m not a sellout right, I’m just a responsible professional working on important relationships, and networking. Wouldn’t do to be rude to an important client, and ummmmm … Synergy!!.
Lundqvist is still six kinds of ridiculous, in case you were wondering. This would be 5-1 against any other goalie.
SO glad to have hockey back! At least in Boston, that sentiment seems to be overwhelming any residual annoyance from the lockout. Sellout tonight, very few tickets left (and a projected sellout) for the MLK afternoon game against the Jets, and same thing for next Friday against the (presumably terrible) Islanders. Looks like a three day weekend to one of the Florida cities is going to be the most economic way to see the B’s again this year…
As of last night, Marc-Andre Fleury now holds the record of having more wins than any other goalie in franchise history, with his 227th win. The last record holder was Tom Barrasso. Seriously, if we had played like THAT against the Flyers last season, I think we could have kicked them out of the playoffs.
I will confess, I felt sorry for him. Not too sorry, though.
I was watching the game on TV, but missed it the first couple of times. When I saw somebody post some pictures to a hockey board I post to I honestly thought that they were photoshopped.
And we’re back after a two-game “losing streak” (at least that’s what the paper called it. I don’t think two games counts as a “streak”, winning or losing). Good god, is there anything more nerve racking than a shootout? I have sort of a love/hate relationship with them.
Niskanen’s injury is still undisclosed.
