Mickey Redmond ,the Wing color commentator, was horrified by the bad reffing. It used to be the refs did less in playoff games and just let them go at it . Reffing should not be a big part of a playoff game. It should be a very clear penalty to get called.
Definitely hurt by the puck, and definitely stunned by the elbow…our local feed showed blood dripping on the ice seconds after the elbow. Wis was still trying to play “some” defense after the puck hit him, but was pretty much relegated to farm animal status after the elbow and was just a body out there. I hope Holmstrom has his dental premiums paid up…I think he’s gonna need it after Game 4.
I didn’t see the play, but he is in the hospital for a lung contusion. I’m going to doubt the elbow caused that.
And overall this has to be the worst officiating I’ve ever seen in the playoffs. We’ve had penalties called over nothing and obvious calls not made. Guarantee none of these refs make it to the next round of the playoffs.
Nobody (including I) is arguing that the elbow sent him to the hospital…the elbow DID make Wis incapable of defending himself against any further injury that may come from LEGAL play. The non-call was another example of poor officiating which we ALL do agree on.
Don’t hold your breath on that one.
We both have to. Anaheim wins and these refs likely follow them if they make it. Detroit wins, and these refs likely follow them if they make it. Do you want another series with these rejects from the WWE controlling the whistle?
Stupid Penguins.
All of us here at my house were LOVING the overtime.
Then we were hating it.
Grrrr…:smack:
Hey, it’s a road game. At least the Caps took it to overtime. Let’s see what happens Friday.
Checking in to report that the Canes take the series lead over Boston in OT. Woooo!
No, you mean AWESOME Penguins! Let’s Go Pens!
Let’s face it…if the Caps had managed to pull that game out, there would be no goodness in the world. When a team outplays the opposition by such a HUGE margin, they deserve to win. And lets face it, the Penguins owned the Caps the whole game. One fluke goal by Ovechkin, and Varmalov played absolutely out of his mind and nearly stole the game, but the Pens were definitely the better team last night.
The Penguins never get penalized: there is no goodness in the world.
*Heeee-re he comes to save the daaaaaay!
Giggy’s in!
Allez, allez, allez, allez!!!
(I don’t know if that means what I think it means.)
The result:
One Duck Goal. Three to go.
One Duck putting the beat down on a Red Wing.
I love hockey. :D…
…for the time being.
Ahh,
Here is the line change I was waiting for. Hossa and Franzen; there is no answer. Datsuk and Zeds have to be the line to match against, but they will shut your ass down and still get their chances.
Giggy in, that can only set unsure doubts in minds, things are looking much better for the good guys.
Giggy in doesn’t mean much, just that the Wings chased Hiller. Changing goalies for the series after one bad game would be tantamount to insanity. The playoffs belong to hiller unless he has one hell of a bad game.
First thing I should say is that I didn’t watch this game. I’m old and staying up till one in the morning for a semifinal round ain’t gonna happen. Cup finals yes, but not the semis. I had intended to watch the first period, but Vs. decided to show the OT of the Chicago/Vancouver series. Thanks Vs.
Second thing I’ll say is that after game two, I’d been saying that Zetterberg and Datsyuk need to be reunited with Hossa going down to play with Franzen. The only difference is that I had Helm or Hudler in the middle instead of Filpula. I’ll be modest and only take partial credit for being right.
Third (and actually topical), Detroit needed this game to be a win. Not just a win, but a Win. They needed to run up the score a bit to chase Hiller from their heads and make a statement of their offensive depth in the series. I’m pretty sure 6-3 counts. Now the series is once more a series, and the Wings are looking a bit more like the Wings.
It just occured to me that a fair amount of that paragraph says absolutely nothing unless you watch a lot of ESPN and know a bit about sports jargon in general.
“Allez” means “to go”.
You might have been looking for “Olé, olé, olé!” which is what Habs fans (and soccer fans) chant to cheer on a player/the team. I have heard it from other hockey team fans too, but much less often.
I am very old but I cou;ld not find the game on Dish last night. Fox sports had the Tigers and the generally follow with hockey. But they did not and I looked all over. It was not on cbs, ESPN ar any other I tried…
I was thinking of the imperative form of the formal verb, as in “(you) GO! (now).”
Like we say “Go Team Go”. However, since I’ve only been to Canada twice and never seen a home sporting event there, I simply thought it was the way Canadians cheered on their team. And then there’s the general chant of most European countries, but I didn’t think “Olé” would move outside of Spain much.
I guess I’m still ignorant.
Pens just tied series. Canes may pull an upset. They lead game and series 2-1 right now.
What a goal by Samsonov. He just made Wideman look silly.
Canes take the series to 3-1 with a huge win over Boston in front of a standing room only crowd. Back to Boston for Game 5 and the chance to finish it up. Boston was well and truly owned for all 3 periods tonight.
