NHL Playoffs

I liked the game. Even though Carolina lost, I thought it was good.

No really dirty things, the refs made sure of that in the first period, but then they let them play.

But it’s only game one.

They play better with their backs to the wall, anyways.

Canes-Pens is shaping up to be another entertaining series. Of course, as a Penguins fan, I’m hoping for only another 3 games in the series, but I think this one’s going at least 6. Fleury was outstanding last night.

Cleary scores! 2-1 Wings. Hard hitting game.

OVERTIME!!! :smack:  (take your pick)

Man, that was a great third period. Khabibulin really earned his pay in that period.

As a Wings fan, I hate overtime.

As I said, As a Wings fan I love overtime.

 ← My pick. Wings 2-0 now.

And no surpise that it was an odd man rush that led to the game winning goal. Now that I think about it, a breakaway also led to Cleary’s goal. Hmmm. Guess what I think Chicago needs to do to win game 3. Gonna be hard though. The Hawk’s D are offensive in nature. They want to win games 5-4 rather than 3-1. Khabibulin better get ready for at least two more rough nights.

On the other end, Detroit needs to CLEAR THE PUCK!!! Shot after shot after shot after shot after shot after shot. Get the puck on the other side of the blue line. It looked like Chicago was on the power play for half the game.

I think those hard shots are working against the Hawks. The rebounds lead to Detroit breakaways. Detroit has capitalized on at least 3 breakaways this series. The Wings are being more surgical with offense.

That extended puck control sequence by the Hawks in the 3rd, which lead to the tying goal, really impressed me. But twice they got sloppy at the opposing blue line and gave up two goals.

There goes Crosby, poaching again.

Sheesh.

Whoa! Malkin gets a hatrick off some weird, blind, backhand shot. Right off the faceoff he won no less. 6-4 Pens, 7 minutes left.

I have to give credit where due…that was one awesome shot.

Its over. Pens score empty net. 2-0 Pens.

Canes mucking it up.

Where did Leaffan go?

Okay, *now *it’s over. Pens 2-0.

Let’s just see what happens down in Carolina where the goals can’t be finer…

Oh, yeah, and that on the spin-no look-backhand hat trick shot by Malkin? Dare I say that was Jordan-esque.

(heh - the announcer on Vs. just called that goal “filthy”)

Malkin’s goals were within 2 feet of the goal. by this logic, Malkin is also a poacher.

Yeah, he’s probally over-rated , too

Normally, I enjoy the hockey talk, enjoy getting other points of view from around the hockey world, but, I read this last week and it stuck with me.
Why would how they get the job done matter? There are so many aspects of the player’s game that influences wether they are a game breaker or considered “great”

Both these players get the job done.

OK , we get it, you think that Crosby is a poacher…

You’ve missed the entire point: the leading goal scorer in the playoffs has no skill, he just steals skill from everyone else.

No skill…right. Got it. (taking notes)

Ya know, during the regular season, Crosby was more assists than goals. He made those around him better. But, he was overrated cause he wasn’t the one putting it in the net.

Now, he is scoring more goals, and the only explanation from the loser’s bench is that he is poaching.

Guess you can’t please all the people all the time.

I guess I do not have as great knowledge of the english language as I thought I did. I seem to be misunderstood many times.

The original statement was made to compare Ovechkin vs. Crosby while they played in the semis.

The latter statement was made to reinforce the idea that the majority of Crosby’s goals come from near the crease. He doesn’t have the shooting ability that Ovechkin does (as he does not regularly score from other areas).

I’m not saying that Crosby doesn’t have skills as a hockey player; I was just saying that he’s not as good as Ovechkin (IMO).

His only score tonight just reinforces my opinion.
