NHL Playoffs

Not to sound overly pessimistic, but it’s now 2-0 Pens and the way Detroit has been playing I don’t see them coming back. My only hope is that whatever Detroit put in the Pens water bottles and that Pittsburgh then put in Detroit’s water will be placed back in the Pens water bottles where it belongs.

ETA: Now Detroit is engaging in nonsense between the whistles. Yep. This is a series of one game.

That’s for sure.

When did this save happen/who took the shot? Was it a similar shot to a goal from last year? I think I missed it and didn’t catch the replay during the break as I was making supper, and I wasn’t watching hockey last year! Thanks!

Yay Penguins!

Damn…

Wings score!

Lets go Redwings

Seven games

PENS WIN!!!

Goin’ to game 7!!!

I totally love Hockey!

That Scuderi guy is a heck of a goalie. If Fleury ever needs a back up, you know who to call.
And on to game seven.

A little too close for my comfort, but what a game! This has, except for game 5, been an incredibly entertaining and competitive series. I’m hoping for a repeat performance by the Penguins as they had against Washington in game 7 in D.C. That’d make me happy!

I’m glad this has gone 7. It’s good for hockey. I REALLY don’t understand the logic of having the game on Friday night though. Friday is a terrible TV night and I think it would’ve been smarter to move it to Sunday afternoon or evening and try and turn it into an event. I fully realize that it makes 4 days in between the games but it also gives you 4 days to hype a friggin stanley cup game 7!?!

I’ll assume that NBA games will all be at 9pm from here on out? How bout having a Hockey game at 6 or 6:30 just like the superbowl?

It just seems like they’re missing a golden opportunity here.

Also…very enjoyable game 6. I was really worried that the Guerin penalty would hurt the pens. I really wanted a game 7, it was a tense 5 minutes.

I am so happy Game 7 is on Friday…pizza, beer and a party just waiting to happen! We’re trying to figure out which bar to dump loads of money onto. This ought to be fun!

I’m stuck at work till 10, just like Game 7 in 2006.:frowning: I know a great bar in Cary, N.C., if you’re up for a roadtrip.

Just don’t screw it up – we haven’t had it since the Mario days.

It mainly depends on which Red Wings team shows up on Friday-the one who makes a bajillion bad decisions, crap passes, ill-timed pinches, or the one which is a collection of crafty yet talented veterans who always knows what the optimal choice is. I wonder just how much Osgood’s HoF candidacy hinges on this game-he’s certainly played like a HoFer in this series.

Well, it may also depend a bit on the Penguins and how good they are, too. Sometimes teams make themselves look bad, and sometimes it’s because the opposition makes them look that way. As Harborwolf noted, the Red Wings can’t blame last night’s game on fatigue. If they hadn’t had Osgood last night, well, it might have been a five goal win for the Pens.

I thought for sure the Guerin’s stick was going to draw blood and that would be the end of it. Luckily, we’re going to 7.

As has been said elsewhere, great series except for game 5. I agree with Harborwolf about Osgood’s HoF credentials. The guy isn’t flashy, but he’s just so damn solid. He really doesn’t make many mistakes. Plus, if Detroit wins on Friday, won’t this be his 4th Cup (if you count the year Mike Vernon was the main goalie)?

mnemosyne last year the puck got loose under Fleury and when he dropped down, the puck skittered over the line and into the goal. This year, it stayed out.

Osgood’s awful play on teams not from Detroit disqualifies him in my mind. Go back in time and have him switch places with, say, Patrick Lalime and people would be talking about how Osgood’s a choker and debating Lalime’s HoF credentials.

In Detroit we hate goalies. They are like Det. Lion quarterbacks, blamed for every loss. Ozzie will not be appreciated in Detroit until he has retired for 5 years.

Osgood’s stats

His save percentage was a hair low in the 02-03 season, but I wouldn’t call any of his non-Wings seasons awful. I’m sure there were some ugly stretches in there, but the stats don’t show that.
