Niche computer question - Microsoft Outlook on Mac?

Does anyone know why Microsoft removed HTML-readability for their latest Outlook version on Mac? If it was supported in earlier versions, why on earth remove it now? In this day and age seems like a stupid move.

Does anyone know if/when they’ll reinstate it?

Not sure. Are you talking about Entourage, the Outlook equivalent for OSX? It has some HTML support, but patchy.

I certainly can’t find a way to CTRL+C CTRL+V a webpage in the Mac version like I can in the PC one. This may be because of the way HTML support is built differently into the system architecture of Windows than it is of Mac OS9 and below, or Mac OSX.

I would suggest seeking more answers at http://www.macfixitforums.com - I have found that the best place on the web for all Mac software and hardware issues.

I’m pretty sure the systems I’m talking about are OS9 (but some may be X) that are running MS Outlook 2001.

MS did not build in HTML support for this version, per their own documentation. Instead, it’s converted to RTF format - which not only eliminates any images, but converts all href tagged links to non-linked ‘plain’ text.

I can’t figure out why on earth they would do something so dumb.

Anything that prevents the inclusion of actual HTML in the body of an email message is good. Were that it would spread to all other email programs.

Emails should contain text and attachments. Live links, OK. Nothing else. ASCII text.
