Night sky July 9th

Where can I look up what the very bright object I saw moving roughly north-west to south east at about 10 pm (EST) on July 9th in New England was?

I am not much of a star-gazer, so I don’t know what sites to go to. Thanks.

It’s helped me locate iridium flash satellites!

You’ll need to plug in your latitude and longitude for best results

It could’ve been a pass of the ISS. Apparently there have been many bright passes recently. I saw one that same night at 10:30 PM here in Chicago. I found it through the site Qadgop links to.

You would need to be more specific about your state and nearest city to be sure, but it may have been the ISS.

At this link click on your state, then the nearest town and you can find out. It is simpler than Quodop’s link.

For example, on July 9th, Durham, New Hampshire, ISS went over at 9:09pm, duration 2 minutes.

My apologies to Qadgop the Mercotan for mangling your user name. I made an edit to my post and I knew time was running out, so I winged it.

Even without checking Heavens Above, it was almost certainly the ISS. There’s nothing else anywhere close to as bright in an orbit like that.

Thank you all very much.
