Nitpick my new website

Your header takes up half the page. Really, you only need that banner with your video on the main page and something more restrained everywhere else.

Flash: do you really need it? Not everyone is on a broadband connection.

You need to acknowledge trademarks and copyrights.

I thought it was really good. I would use the business.

Agreed. That video should be linked to as a separate page, not as an image that appears on the top of the entire site taking up valuable real estate.

Also…

You should change this to the proper names for each system… “Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or Wii”

I am actually planning on adding more videos, that box is set up for it so it will be more than just that soon.

to be brutally honest, if they don’t, I don’t really want them as customers. Every time I end up working an onsite with dialup it nearly ends up spawning a pit thread.

:smack: will do

Care to translate that to “web retard 1.0”.

Some suggestions

Networking (wired or wireless) - Allow for shared applications and multiple computers to connect to the internet, we can also help configure gaming systems like XBOX, Playstation, and Nintendo Wii for network access We can also enable peripheral and folder sharing within your home network so everyone can access common files or printers. (1 to 2 hours)

Virus/Spyware cleanup - Don’t want to haul your system to the shop, one of our technicians can take care of it at your home or office (1.5 to 3.5 hours)

should be either

A real nitpick but you screwed up some underlinings: If you look at the headings for Broadband Setup and After Hours/Weekends/Holdidays, you’ll see you extended the underlining past the hyphen instead of cutting it off at the end of the heading.

After Hours/Weekends/Holdidays - We regular hours, we have onsite technicians available 24 hours a day, additional charges do apply to same day service calls under some circumstances.

You misspelled Holidays. And this works better as

We are open regular hours and also have onsite technicians available 24 hours a day. Additional charges may apply to same day service calls under some circumstances.

Concerned about cost, Bring it into our shop where the costs are lower. Some issues are also not as feasible onsite and can be better handled by the additional tools and facilities the shop can provide.

The section on Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is confusing. Did you copy it from a Malwarebytes’ site? You mention “our advanced heuristic scanning technology” and “we have implemented a threats center” which presumedly refers to Malwarebytes not PC Search & Rescue.

Ever wanted to be your own web designer. Wix has some of the best tools we have ever seen to allow even a novice developer to build and host professional looking sites in a matter of hours.

You can leave messages 24 hours a day at the main dispatch line, on call techs do check those messages from time to time.

I notice your coupons have no expiration dates. It’s usually a bad idea to make them open-ended like that.

Some web browsers will have problems with it. Any user that has even a slight disability (like needing to magnify text) will likely have problems with it. Newer webbrowsers when they come out will likely have problems with it.

It’s shiny on the surface, but, under the hood, you have a lot of potential problems.

It’ll do in a pinch, but you need to get it up to standards. I wish I could tell you how simply, but I cannot. Probably the easiest way for you would be to spend some money on getting someone else to fix these problems. If your business does well, this shouldn’t be too hard.

I do think I offered some program you could mess around with and see if you can duplicate your design. They should put out standards compliant code, so you don’t risk breaking anything.

Sorry. Lost the thread.

For starters, http://www.w3schools.com/ is a good place to learn code.

Do all your testing in Firefox. That way you can install the Web Developer addon, the HTML Validator addon, and the WAVE addon. These three will greatly assist you in writing standards-compliant code and code that’s accessible. Creating a web site that is standards-compliant means your web site will render in browsers pretty much as you intend. This is becoming more and more important with mobile browsers since a 3G/4G smartphone has little real estate compared to a desktop or laptop.

Working towards web accessibility means you aren’t throwing away the 60 million people in America who are legally disabled and the additional 100 million who are electronically disabled but don’t know it.

Oh, yeah. Don’t expect any referrals from iPad users since the site doesn’t work at all.
