Nitpick the movie you're watching now....

I’m currently testing a customer’s iMac G5 20" for an overheating issue, so i have The Iron Giant running in the background, i tend to run DVD’s i know by heart (like T.I.G. and Monty Python and the Holy Grail) so i’m not tempted to sit down and watch the whole sodding thing

since all “New World Architecture” Macs (anything from the Sawtooth G4 onward) decode DVD’s enirely in software, it’s a good way to give the computer (specifically the processor and vidcard) a good workout

anyway, i glanced over at the iMac a couple of times and noticed a few nitpicky details …

in the night forest scene where Hogarth is searching for what ate the TV antenna, he has a flashlight taped under the barrell of his BB gun, unfortunately, it’s taped in a way that blocks the barrel, any BB’s shot out of it would be deflected off the rim of the flashlight’s lens

near the end of the film after the Giant has been shot down and is mourning a “dead” Hogarth, watch the two tank gunners that pull up behind the Giant, when the camera cuts to tank gunner #1, who says “It’s still alive”, watch the gunner behind him, as his motions are exact duplicates of the front gunner, they simply cloned the front tank object, shrunk it and dropped it behind the frontmost tank

I was watching Star Trek Wrath of Khan last night. In the beginning of the movie the Enterprise is filled with trainees. I forget who, but someone asks Lt. Saavik if she’s ever taken a ship out of space dock before. She says no. Spock (or Kirk) says “Take her out Lt. Saavik”.

As the ship is pulling from spack dock Kirk and a few other people have worried looks on their faces. Like Lt. Saavik is going to crash the ship. But in reality all she did was tell Sulu how fast to pull the ship out. Sulu is doing the real driving.
