Taking $$$ from orphans and alzheimer’s patients to keep afloat a sinking ship? Google “Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club” or “Evan Montvel Cohen” for details…
I could provide a plethora of cites, but all are apparently from blogs, which plays into the “liberal media bias” perception. Where is the NY Times, CBS, etc. on this? If the story circulating the blogshpere is false or misleading, given its “volume” why not report it as so? Is printspace at such a premium? Christ, Drudge was reporting the Times was taking time to investigate Robert’s adopted kids!
I pit Air America for just about completely screwing the pooch in providing an alternative to the perceived conservative dominance of talk radio. Cohen drops a million dollar check on it, and noone wonders where it came from? Who thought Mark Maron is a good idea? Pitty, pit, pit, pit.
Gee, how did I know what this was going to be about?
Okay, lindacohen, I’ll cut you slack over the search. But your premise for this thread is still totally wrong. The wrongdoing was on Cohen’s part, not Air America’s; he was dismissed quite some time ago, and they’ve set things straight with the club.
Other media, fortunately, are occasionally smart enough not to run with a story just because it’s circulating on the blogs. Sometimes they do their own investigation and find out it’s a big nothing. The John Kerry/intern “scandal” is an instructive example. Perhaps that’s why this hasn’t gotten a lot of ink.
My bad, Air America has paid the club back in toto? If not, how has it “set things straight?” I think this differs somewhat from the Kerry story as that matter was apparently entirely fiction. This one might not be. AND that one did get coverage in the mainstream media.
By the by, Cohen was an employee of both the club and Air America methinks, and excusing both for the incident is analagous to Republicans excusing all the big folk for the little folks’ screwups, ala Rove, Liddy, et al.
Noone thought to ask where that million dollar check came from right when we needed it?
Umm, did you read the thread linked to in Rufus Xavier’s post? #2 in this thread? Because honestly, Mr. Moto, a sharp and erudite conservative poster, got his ass sawed off and handed back to him in that thread.
Somebody already tried that one. Read the thread and go suck a lemon. As I wrote over there, this is very different from the Rove story in the following ways:
*One, or perhaps two, individuals are clearly at fault, not the entire organization. [It is not yet clear if this was the case in the Wilson scandal.]
*Cohen lost his job long ago. [Rove and Libby still work for the White House, and will apparently do so unless convicted of crimes.]
*Air America was upfront about the story with its listeners. [The White House said Rove and Libby were absolutely not involved in leaking Valerie Wilson’s name.]
*Air America is making amends even though the company that owns it was not involved in the loan.
So, not very much like the Rove story at all. And not much point in doing this AGAIN.
The statement says they fully compensated the club. I suppose I shouldn’t say with certainty that I know that means they gave all the money back. It appears that some agreement was reached, however.
It’s not that it’s an “opposing” view, it’s that it’s a redundant one. We already did this. There’s nothing to the story. Read the other thread and catch up.
Even if this were true, what the fuck difference would it make? If the club is satisfied with the arrangement, what business of it is yours?
