The same thing happens in Montreal. A policewoman addressing a sexuality forum that Hamish attended told the audience that it was common practice for police officers patrolling Mount Royal Park to ignore straight sex, but arrest any gay men they saw having sex. That is discriminatory.
When we were going together, my ex Eric and I spent a lot of time in parks, since he lived in group housing at the time and I lived at home. We didn’t get it on, but one time we were in a park kissing, and a police officer drove up and sat in his car watching us for a long time. Just to irritate him, we kept kissing, with hands strictly above the waist, until he got bored and drove off.
The only other thing I’d like to say about that is that I’m always amused when the reason for rules against public sex is given as “protecting the children.” Honey, if your kid is walking around Mount Royal Park at two in the morning, s/he’s got more problems than just happening on two guys making it.
Should I be getting turned on by this thread?
All this talk of public sex, no matter who is doing it, makes me want to take a nice long walk in the park.
Damn, that would suck. Maybe the rest are the older guys who look like Sean Connery?
Anyhoo, those two are morons. I mean d’uh! It’s bad enough when I go into a public restroom I have to deal with used tampons lying everywhere, piss on the seats, people who like to finger paint with their feces all over the stalls.
I do NOT need to deal with more bodily fluids! Plus, if I’m waiting to use the bathroom, and I have to wait because you’re in there making the beast with two backs, I’m gonna be pissed off!
I don’t go to YOUR house and take a dump in the middle of your bed. So don’t come to a store and have sex there!
BTW, I remember a straight couple who got arrested for having sex in the dressing rooms at Lazarus department store-I think it was around here. It was on the news and everything. Hehehe.
As for risky behavior in youths-I don’t think it’s exclusive to young gay males. When I was fourteen, my friend and I used to dodge cars and play chicken on the main drag and play with matches in the woods. Lucky I didn’t get slammed by a Mack truck or start a forest fire!
Well there is the off chance that straight couples have sex there, too, but only queer couples get harassed, but it doesn’t sound that way in this particular case. Regardless, any kind of public sex, while thrilling*, is hardly acceptable.
So, is this where I wait patiently for you to be taken to task by all the mighty defenders of everyone everywhere for painting all gay people with the same brush? I mean, I know you didn’t intend to, and it’s obvious that’s not what you meant, but, even with disclaimers, we all know how important it is to be clear around here.**
Esprix
[sub]*Not that I’d know this first-hand, mind you. Of course not. Never. Nope. Nuh-uh. maybe
**Why, yes, actually, I am bitter. Thank you for asking.[/sub]
The fact that you are bitter about this is not a surprise, sorry.
Your right. There may be the chance that this location is used by hetro couple, Esprix. If that is the case then it is equally wrong.
So far, if it is the case, no one has seen anything. This mall has a reputation for this sort of activity and it is well known throughout the city and those who run it, (Namely, my father and those before him.) have tried to stop it.
I am not painting anyone with any brush. But it is my opinion that there are those that would hear about this and think that this is ‘typical gay behavior’ due to nothing but ignorance.
But here, I am talking about a specific incident that dealt with a homosexual couple that threatened someone else life for infringing on their ‘rights to have sex in a public place’. And that they claim they have this right because they are gay.
Personally, that is utter bullshit. It is against the law and has nothing to do with sexuality.
(If it was a hetro couple who did the same thing, I would be just as irate…)
If you want to think I am an ignorant fuck, then that is your right…
gobear, you get a gold star for fighting ignorance today. I have heard countless stories from two of my coworkers about the tearooms of the pre-Stonewall days, and I have ALWAYS taken that to mean that they went on dates at places that served Earl Grey and cucumber sandwiches. Now some of the details of those stories make a lot more sense …
I’m all for the idea for people to be free with regards to their sexual preferences but I will side with Kwyjibo on this.
Gay, straight or bi…it doesn’t matter. Having sex in privately owned “public” (because the public frequents there) is just out and out disgusting. If I had children and I walked into a park or a mall bathroom and two people were fucking (be that straight, gay or bi) I would be outraged.
Most people will keep their sexual activities amongst themselves but having sex in a mall’s bathroom? EGADS folks, I could think of more fun ways to have sex. But a bathroom where people shit and pee and probably don’t even wash their hands when they leave? That in itself is disgusting, gay, straight or bi…blech. The thought makes me ill.
But what really takes the cake for me is that they are claiming that because they are gay, they are being unfairly targeted.
Excuse me here. I could give a shit if it was a straight married couple, your sexual escapades should not be taking place where my nephew (who’s all of 6 years old this October) walking in and seeing consenting adults fucking on a filthy floor or where he may be playing soccer.
It’s one thing to be daring but another to be skanky about it and claim “because I am gay it’s not fair.” If you have that attitude, you should not even have a partner to begin with.
I enjoy being sexual but I sure as hell would not be so bold in public. To me, that’s just nasty.
< although a golf course at midnight is kinda fun but not likely that a 6 year old would be out there. >

Damnit, preview is really your friend…that was a PUBLIC BATHROOM…dang me.
