I saw it in the theater several times. When my wife watched it with me on DVD, she turned me while Chigurh was walking up the stairs in Eagle Pass and said “Can we turn it off? This movie is making me too nervous.”
The next day, she asked “I just gotta know. Chigurh doesn’t win, does he?” I told her that she’d have to finish the movie with me, I couldn’t really explain how it works out. So, she did finish it. She likes the movie a lot now. It’s still not something she’ll put on for light viewing, but she has watched it several times.
To her crefit, my wife watched the whole thing with me, but wasn’t a fan.
I wonder where he would rank if AFI re-did their 50 Villains list. Top five on the list are:
Hannibal Lechter
Norman Bates
Darth Vader
The Wicked Witch of the West
Nurse Ratched

No, it’s the one where Moss is waiting for Chigurh in his hotel room, before moss escapes out the window and the shootout ensues. After Chigurh leaves the door and starts turning out the hall lights she asked me to stop the movie.
I couldn’t sleep. I just watched the movie.
