We rented a place to a friend of my daughter who is from the middle east. I’m only saying that because it’s not like she just moved to Indiana and I can find her quickly. She did not leave a forwarding address when she went back home. My daughter and I both emailed her, but haven’t heard anything. What do I do about the mail she is still receiving? She is a sweet girl and we were all on good terms, so I think it’s just a case of being done with this episode in her life. I’m reading the magazines ( she has quite a few!) but I’d like to do the right thing w ith the mail. We are putting the place up for sale, so sooner or later ( I hope sooner) I won’t have access to the mailbox. Any advice?
If the absentee renter is a friend of your daughter’s, perhaps Dear Daughter will a) have some idea of the renter’s long term plans and b) will perhaps hear from renter in the future, which will hopefully include a more current address.
Have the mail delivered to your daughter’s address, as she’s the one most likely to next
have contact with the renter. (Daughter might also know other, or mutual friends of the renter, which again might eventually cough up an address).
You have probably tried finessing an address from the renter’s past school / place of work. Other than that, what can you do?

As advised in the previous thread on this same topic: Just write "No Longer at this Address on the mail and put it back into the postal system. You can just drop it in any mailbox, but leaving it in the mailbox at your door might work better – that way, your letter carrier is informed about it.
