There are magazines for everything. I think in “Sophie’s Choice”, a character was a free-lance writer, who wrote for “Styrofoam Today” and “The American Strip Miner”. While waiting to get my car done, I’ve read magazines for the muffler replacement industry.
Bride magazines *are *women’s porn magazines.
Even the SSM wedding magazines like Equally Wed are focused more toward women than toward men.
The description says that it’s “lesbian-owned” so that might explain it.
This.
There’s a joke about a high-strung bride-to-be agonizing over her upcoming wedding.
“Oh, mother, everything must be perfect, down to the most insignificant detail!”
“Now don’t you worry your pretty little head”, answered her mother. “I’ll make sure he’s here!”
I once consulted a lawyer that had “Hispanic Businessman” magazine in his office waiting room. Yes, he’s Hispanic.
That wasn’t as strange as the veterinarian who had militia magazines in his waiting room. Never went back to him even though he appeared competent.
I’m not sure I’d call those “magazines” vs a collection of links. Most of the articles are years old.
I just paged through the Aug/Sept 2016 Brides Magazine (the one with the Bride holding the baby on the cover). There are nine pages of advertising featuring grooms in tuxes (and several more with grooms in the background), plus an editorial piece titled “Sunset on the Hudson” featuring pictures from a male same-sex wedding.
As pointed out previously, it’s traditionally the bride’s party. And the sort of bride who plans an elaborate wedding and studies magazines isn’t going to tell her future husband “go choose your own outfit and surprise me!” Most likely she is going to choose the groom’s (and his attendants’) attire to make sure it matches the theme of the wedding. Remember, the groom is not supposed to see the bride’s dress before the wedding, how is he supposed to know whether to dress for a Daisy Dukes wedding or a formal royal affair? And besides, most straight men are too stupid to be trusted with picking out clothes (and relieved if someone else does it for them).
User name is the answer.
I wish to stress that that is not the origin of my username.
From what I have seen of Weddings, a grooms function is
- Show up at the appointed time
and - Stay out of the way the rest of it.
Weddings are for the bride and her female family and friends. And the grooms mother/sister/female relatives.
From A Little Bit Of Everything…
Somewhere a pretty girl is writing invitations
To a wedding she has scheduled for the fall
Her man says, “Baby, can I make an observation?
You don’t seem to be having any fun at all”
She said, “You just worry about your groomsmen and your shirt-size
And rest assured that this is making me feel good”
I think that love is so much easier than you realize
If you can give yourself to someone, then you should
