No groom magazines

There are scores of bridal magazines out there. Why do you suppose there are no groom magazines?
And if there were groom magazines what sorts of articles would they feature? “Picking the right best man: the importance of knowing who doesn’t have a softball game that weekend” or “Top 5 hacks for getting mustard stains off a rental tux”

Heh. They do exist.

The groom is just a prop in the Bride Show.

Wow, there IS a groom magazine or two now. The world is topsy turvy. Nothing makes sense anymore. AAAAHHH!

[recovering from shock] So that’s the one exception that proves the rule. Reframing the question - why aren’t there more groom magazines?

Because there’s not nearly as much demand for groom magazines.

Sounds like a money making idea with the same sex marriages both guys could be the groom

Only so many styles of tuxes that you can showcase. “Here’s a black one, and another black one, and one more over here…”

It seemed to be less so for other locations (last one I checked was the UK), but both in France and Spain I’ve seen groom-targeted articles in wedding magazines. Then again, in Spain we do call them that rather than “bridal” (I never thought of asking what are they called in French).

What about white, and powder blue with ruffles?

Those feature more in “1970’s Prom Magazine”, next to the articles about “looking cool by doing the Hustle” and “the most comfortable way to make out in the backseat of your AMC Pacer”.

Actually, that’s what my brother’s tuxes were when he got married in 1977. White jacket, black pants, powder blue shirt with lots of ruffles. I’ll see if I can dig up a pic of my younger brother and I in those sweet outfits.

Besides, most grooms rent their tux (or wedding outfit), while brides buy theirs.

Note that it offers complimentary admission to “Gentlemen’s Clubs” and advice on where to go for Bachelor’s Parties, plus a column by a model in a bikini offering marriage advice (although it states she knows nothing about it).

Follow the money. [del]In general[/del] Traditionally, the groom doesn’t make the wedding plans or pay for the wedding, the bride (or bride’s family) does.

This. Even if the groom-to-be is an active participant in wedding planning, marketing of such things has traditionally been focused on the bride-to-be and her family.

And, a large proportion of the real estate in bridal magazines is taken up by ads for wedding dresses (and, secondarily, dresses for bridesmaids). Without those ads (and the money that they bring in), bridal magazines likely would not even exist.

Could it be that many brides magazines are bought by women not yet engaged to fantasize about their weddings? I understand this is a thing, not a fantasy my daughters had thank Og. I don’t suspect many grooms would be interested.
An SSM grooms magazine does sound like it could be a profitable thing, by the way.

Oh, the entrepreneurs are trying it, believe me. But not, I suspect, a huge market.

Do you have one in a slightly darker black?

Go ahead and laugh, but I went to my first gay wedding last year and the grooms wore white tuxes with teal bow ties and cummerbunds. Ain’t my wedding, and who am I to question their taste!? There’s undoubtedly a growing market in fabulous same sex tuxedo apparel…probably would be popular with some lesbians as well!

I’m going to go start a gay tuxedo store right now.

Women have bride magazines, men have porn magazines.
