I thought the ending scene indicated that the three really were working together, and was dissappointed that the movie didn’t leave it as an open question. My wife, however, thinks the question was left open, and I read too much into that scene.
What do you guys think?

I agree with your wife. The ending didn’t resolve it one way or the other. My take on it:
They really weren’t working together, but after Schwartzmann’s character’s speech at the end, they started to realize that they didn’t have the complete picture after all. In fact, no one really has it all figured out. The ending didn’t say that they’d been working together, but left open the possibility that they could either start working together, or at least be less antagonistic towards each other.
