Replace “fear” with “relish”.
Oh, there are definitely modified Civics out there (never seen that type of Neon IIRC) but these Civics were the kind you buy off the lot
I think a lot of people equate a 7 series with other giant yacht-like cars that are slow.
Perhaps “Nah, I don’t want to kill any old ladies?” With suitable  and :dubious: expressions. Just something that implies that racing is dangerous to other people and thus beneath you.
I don’t think you made this thread to talk about how you don’t want to race people, and I don’t think you are dumb enough to believe that if you actually do what you say you do at stoplights it isn’t encouragement enough for others to hit it off the line. I think you made this thread to try and brag.
I don’t think Philster is a brag racer.

Who cares? The rest of us are telling friendly stories of people wanting to race. Get with the program!
Not as much anymore since my car is older (2003 3-series) but back when it was brand new and I was in high school I was challenged to race a lot, or people would try to merge and be dicks in front of me. Lots of older Acuras and retooled Hondas. Mostly I was too terrified to do anything about it and drove like an old lady because the deal I had with my folks was if I got a ticket or any citation I wouldn’t drive for the rest of high school . So I was pretty darn careful.
It’s funny but people treat me a lot differently in my SO’s 10 year old minivan than they do in my 3 series. Ordinary cars are much kinder to me in the 3 series while ever tom dick and harry will try to cut me off in the minivan.
Everybody is going to groan over this. My friend sold his 69 440 GTX for $500 (back in the day). It was in mint condition. He had 12- 1 pistons and a racing cam with the six pack ram air hood. The car was in excellent condition. Sigh…I was pissed he didn’t offer it to me but I would have wrapped it around a tree within a week. That car would spin the tires at 45 mph.
Sorry, but what am I bragging about exactly?
Anyway, I think I’ve tried to state that I drive a car that I find underpowered but quick enough for fun, and I am not up to racing because, if I really really wanted to race, I’d buy an earth-smasher of a car/engine and my adrenal glands would get me into trouble. And it’d be a manaul trans.
Fast cars are often expensive. There is no way to talk about 500 HP engines and all the ins/outs of the cars out there without discussing something expensive (which is relative). I stay out of trouble by staying out of the superfast cars that have gobs of ::salivates:: torque bolted to ::salivates:: manual trans.
