I click on a poster’s name in a thread, and select “view public profile.” If there is no “last activity” line at all, what does that mean? They haven’t posted since (when)?

I don’t remember now, but I found two examples yesterday, and I’ve seen it before. Yesterday’s were posters who joined recently (since 2005) and had posted frequently since then, so it’s not a holdover from AOL days or the Winter of Our Missed Content.
I didn’t know that you didn’t know about it. The next time it happens, I’ll keep track.
I’m guessing they were in “Invisible Mode”. User CP>Edit Options
Maybe that’s it. I don’t see a “last activity” line in your profile. Are you wearing the Cloak of Invisibility?
I see it. When cloaked, the little “online” button is not lit.
What you see and what others see in your profile may not be the same. I swear that when I looked at your profile a minute ago, I didn’t see the last activity line, but now I do. So either I am nuts or something else is going on.
Musicat my dear, I think there may be a conflict of some kind between your browser and your operating software.
I’ve clicked on a ton of profiles and “Last Activity” is always visible to me. Windows 7/Chrome here.
I’m sorry you’re not seeing things properly. I can’t duplicate this problem and so cannot help you.
Tried it in Chrome (XP), Chrome (Win7), Firefox (XP), IE6 (XP), 2 computers, rebooted both. Same result for TubaDiva’s profile page (no last activity line).
vBulletin has a message board for valid users. I no longer have access to this, but SDMB should. It might be worth a search or post there.
I sent TubaDiva screenshots for all of these tests.
We don’t have access to it either.

I just went invisible for a few minutes but the last activity line still tracked when i was active.
No last activity for you on Safari either. It was there for the other two posters in this thread.
I’ve seen it for some posters before and not for others. No idea why.

I see runner pat’s and Alan Smithee’s last activity, but not IvoryTowerDenizen.

I’ve seen this before too but never thought anything about it. I figured it was some sort of option. Maybe it’s correct that stealth or invisible mode activates it. If so, maybe Administrators have permission to see it all the time regardless?
I just switched to Invisible mode. Can someone check my last activity? If it’s gone, as it should be, we’ll have confirmation.
Surprisingly, I found that I have “Show Avatars” selected. I’m surprised that the option is there, not that it’s selected. 
No last activity shown.
I haven’t changed anything about mine at all.
