In today’s question, Thank you for dying: Did 250 million people worldwide die from smoking over 10 years? the 1992 Lancet article, “Mortality From Tobacco in Developed Countries: Indirect Estimation from National Vital Statistics” was quoted, and the update had a similar fixation on the developed countries.
Did Professor Peto state a reason in either article for focusing on the developed countries? I’m hoping its because stats are easier to come by and not because he’d just as soon all those former colonists just shuffled off this mortal coil.
