I hope they keep Uncle Ben’s perverted rice
Land-O-Lakes made the decision to drop their offensive logo a few days ago.
Maybe that Washington Football team is next?
The right wing crying towels are going to get soaked. Waaaaaaaah- POLITICAL CORRECTNESS! Overdue, but wow how do they get the name recognition back?
In Britain, an MP is accusing Kellog’s of being racist because they use a monkey as mascot for the chocolate puffed rice cereal Coco-Pops.
Box covers are displayed about halfway down.
Sadly, no. Uncle Ben is most like on his way out the door, too.

I hear they’re following Lady Antebellum’s example and renaming them Aunt J and Uncle B.
Sounds like some people may benefit from reading Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, and Rastus: Blacks in Advertising, Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow by Marilyn Kern-Foxworthy (the one I have) or similar books that come up when you search “Aunt Jemima” on Amazon. That history is long and disgraceful.
I thought Aunt Jemima went away years ago.
The Onion took care of it last week.
:eek::eek::eek::eek:
All product mascots will soon be lily-white, like Wendy and the Quaker Oats guy.
The Land-O-Lakes change was even historically accurate. They got rid of the Native American and kept the land.
Nope, it was just rebranded a bit. They tried to rescue it by making Jemima a regular-looking woman. The baggage attached is too much, though.
No they won’t.
Ok, stupid but sincere question: Is the offensive part of Uncle Ben’s because of the “uncle” part? I’m not defending it; if people say they’re offended, then I believe them. I just never thought about that aspect until now. It was always *perverted *rice, though:o
Aunt Jemima should have been dealt with decades ago.
Also, would Land O’ Lakes be less problematic if the depiction of the Native woman wasn’t so cartoonish and lame?

I love The Onion! :o
Wanna bet? :dubious:
No betting on this BBS.
But your insane scenario is obviously not going to happen.
I’ll admit, my first thought was: Getting rid of all the non-white corporate mascots doesn’t really seem like a step forward.
Who are the non-problematic racially diverse corporate mascots?
Not the Pillsbury Doughboy. He’s as white bread as they come.
