Was that before the war against the cows?
ZPG predates the book by 20 yrs and has the exact same premise as Savage’s proposal. Right down to the 30 yr moratorium and compulsory abortions. Did Savage also advocate offending couples and their children be publically executed on the spot like in the movie? Of course in the movie humanity’s probably headed towards a massive die off anyone. I did think it was odd that dominant (only?) form of birth control in the future was a DIY abortion ray every woman had in her bathroom instead of an implant or a daily pill, but who in the 1970s could’ve predicted that?
If no more children were being born, I would quite honestly kill myself. Being a father is a major life goal to me, and if I were guaranteed that it was never going to happen, what the hell’s the point in going on with the rest of my life?
But that’s just me.
