No pantyhose or stockings....white legs...

How ya’ doin?

Why, thank you! :o (really, I truly thank you, I’m really, really insecure about my legs because I have sizable calves and they really are white, I’m actually kinda tan in the last two)

Really? What year was that? (and which state?) Did you select waiters to set off your dress?

I am yet another extremely pale person, who says ‘fuck it’. I tried the tinted moisturizer for a while and didn’t like it at all.

Oh, and - as proof of my paleness, I give you this picture. I was dressed up as a goth for Halloween and, I swear, I am wearing nothing on my face but my own personal foundation and makeup.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you do for a living? You have on a business women’s skirt, a crossing-guard’s vest, a workman’s hat, and that clipboard[?] looks like a prop from Bladerunner.

I’m a traffic engineer (or almost, I sit for the PE this October). Anytime you work near traffic, you’re supposed to wear a safety vest for visibility and a construction helmet (although a lot of guys don’t). And I’m holding an old fashioned traffic ount clipboard that has buttons on the top so you can count right turns, thru traffic, and left turns.

Truthfully, tho’, I’m not really working there. That picture was for a traffic analysis project proposal and I’m standing in front our offices.

Ahhh - thank you for the clarification. For a minute I thought perhaps you were a very posh crossing guard.

Fabulous shoes, BTW…

During the winter I wear thick tights and starting this summer I have started to wear pantyhose to work with my skirts, and I love them! First, it gets really cold in my office and pantyhose help my legs stay warm. I also like the way they look - I get the really nice sheer ones at the department store. I also like the way they feel, and I like the support around my tummy, butt and thighs and feel like I have a smoother line under my skirts.

I am one of those super white people and the skin on my legs isn’t just white, it’s CLEAR! You can see my hair follicles, even though I shave every day… it’s just that my skin is transparent and you can see the hair growing under the skin. You can also see my veins (no not varicose veins, just my normal blue veins) and you can see all my little scrapes and scars from over the years and I bruise very easily so I always have a couple black and blue marks.

So basically I feel that a nice pair of pantyhose covers all that up, which I feel is more appropriate with a nice skirt in an office environment. And I like the way they feel.

Before this summer I hadn’t worn pantyhose in years and years and now I am in love with them. I don’t know why they get such a bad rap! (I’m 31, btw, so not an old fogey).

I got married in 2000. No, I did not match them to my dress. To his credit, he was a very old fashioned guy. Definitely grew up in the “white folks don’t work at Morrison’s Cafeteria” era.

I’m a very skinny, pale person and have very skinny, long, pale legs. I used to be so worried about showing them until the day I realized a few things, they weren’t getting shorter, tanner or fatter and well, when they will wrap twice around you, most guys don’t really care. :stuck_out_tongue:

For those that didn’t peruse her other photos, she has quite the shoe collection and display. I remember seeing those from a previous thread.

I used the word gams for a reason. You aren’t a twiggy thin, lollipop head girl. Definitely old style pin-up, which, from your outfit with the hardhat, you are quite aware of. Keep rockin’ it old style sister, you got it.

Yes! Are you me? I get the same bruises. They start blue, then green, then yellow… just gross! And I bruise so easily I don’t even know how I get most of my bruises because I never even remember bumping myself.

So yes, I feel that the pantyhose make my legs look nicer with a nice outfit in an office environment.

Outside the office, though, I’m always in shorts and don’t care about my legs.

This summer I have pledged to be pale and proud and not to try to do anything about it. I have tried so many tanning lotions and they are all crap, none work for me except for making my skin orange.

You could try this.

I have very pale legs and a giant scar from ankle surgery. I just go with it. Always hated hose, not particularly fussed if someone doesn’t appreciate my lack of melanin.

I think it’s pretty sick that you find your legs unattractive. I think tanning is one of the stupidest fads of all time. Be who you are, dammit.

That looks a lot like the Sally Hanson stuff I use sometimes. It really does help with the smoother look (hides the hair follicles) but doesn’t do a lot for the scar and the broken veins. Fortunately, the scar fades as time goes on–right now it’s about 6 months old, so still kinda pink/red.

I’m not too self-conscious about them, just sometimes, especially when I want to look really nice.

tremorviolet, I like to joke that the only way I’ll ever get a tan is if my freckles all join up. And I’m easily as white as you are.

Sometimes I think I’m the only Floridian who doesn’t have a tan, but of course I know I’m not. It’s just a lot of my friends and family do tan easily.

Bah, no. Yes I admit I am pale, untannable and probably therefore biased, but I reckon you look **perfectly **fine there, whereas a couple of the other people look quite scarily tanned to me, given the whole skin cancer thing. I’ll tell myself that is just a trick of the camera or the photo, though.

Oh why won’t somebody bring back the fashion for “pale and interesting”? Much as I’d like a nice dark tan, I am just not going to get a nasty lot of sunburn, pain and blisters in the vague hope that it might happen.

Makes sense now, though I was kinda hoping you’d tell me you were on your way to retire a replicant. Good luck with the PE.

Florida? Summertime? Gotta be nuts to wear anything more than legally required.

I wear skirts, and pantyhose, and I don’t care if it’s dorky…I think it looks much more professional and finished than bare legs. I see very few women in suits or business-type dresses with bare legs around here, and in the winter it would be foolish! I like the support and smoother look my legs have in hose, and being a generously sized girl, I don’t want bare sweaty thighs chafing together all day long at work…pantyhose keeps things more frictionless unless I’m out in the heat…and who goes out there? And as cold as the air conditioning gets, I appreciate the added layer. I sat across from a girl with pale, heavy calves like mine the other day on the bus, and I just wanted to scream “pantyhose!” at her. I realized if my legs looked that bad, I would not wear that short a skirt to work. She just looked…half-dressed and unprofessional. Strictly my opinion, of course.

Nope, lived here for 36 years and have endured the “You live in Florida and don’t have a tan?” the whole time. I guess most people assume once you get here, you are issued melanin.

My hair is not really red, but I have the freckles and fair skin. I also joke about smearing them all together to get a tan. The real bitch? I have to match foundation to my base color, not the freckles.

This is one of the reasons I never wear skirts/dresses or shorts. I have incredibly pale skin and very dark hair, so even when I’ve shaved, it looks like I have stubble, because you can clearly see the hair under the skin, not to mention the pretty blue veins… Also, I have fat thighs, so most pantyhose makes swishing noises when I walk. :frowning:

Uh, I have no suggestions, just needed a chance to whine a little, sorry.

Okay, here’s the pics.

I used Neutrogena’s lotion that has a sunless tanner in, so they’re not as pale as they were yesterday–so you can see they’re normally palepalepale.
