No seriously: Fuck off, Kanye.

Agreed, but in the anecdote I was citing (that Askia was disagreeing with) we were dealing with what I would classify as racism. Certainly there are other things that are equally as bad/stupid, but here- to me at least- the parameters for racism were pretty much set.

But yeah, just chiming in to say that I agree.

They are in China, Iraq and Liberia.

You’re just fine with Kanye because he ragged on Bush. If he were a child molester you’d be fine with it. Hell, you’re happy Katrina came along because it made Bush look bad.

Cite that white people are persecuted in China?

White people are a majority in Iraq (Iraqis are white), unless you’re only talking about Americans, in which case you’re talking about one occupying force of white people being resisted by white insurgents.

I lived for two years in Liberia and never got persecuted.

I thought it was hilarious how and when he ragged on Bush. Other than that I couldn’t care less about the guy. I never even heard of him before that incident. I’m not even saying he’s necessarily right in everything he says (I said in another thread that I think he’s wrong about Bush being a racist) I just think the reactions to what he said are out of proportion an silly.

Yeah, right…

Not at all. I was born in Louisiana and I love New Orleans. I’m also not a psychopath. It is absolutely not a worthwhile trade to me to see so many people suffer and die because it might hurt Bush politically. Bush isn’t even up for anymore elections so his poll numbers are meaningless at this point.

I’ll admit that was funny, just because of the look on Myers face (and the cut away to Chris Tucker, was it?). The only reason I’m particularly angry-meh, angry isn’t even the right word, I’m just really disliking Kanye and his asshattery- is the fact that this isn’t just one stupid, douche-bag-eque incident from Kanye. We’re going on like five incidents. The guy seems to think he has some amazing knowledge and power, but he’s a rapper. Unfortunately, that gives him a lot of power in the eyes of the youth (but we’ve gone over this).

He just annoys me, what can I say? On the upside: I’m totally awaiting the break down, because you KNOW it is going to be HILARIOUS!

And what about my people, my race?

See here.

Uglybeech’s Rule!

I thought Iraqis were Arabs and Iranians were the white ones. Are Arabs White now? Oh, my head hurts now.

To me, white generally means of European descent. Of course, South Africans, Northern Italians, some Spanish, etc. etc. etc. could all be considered white.

If you’re the old-fashioned type who divides the world into Caucausian, Mongoloid, and Negroid, then Indians and Arabs and Jews and Italians are all Caucausian. Caucausians are the most numerous and diverse of groups and skin color is one of the most diverse yet least important things about them (shape of heads, hair type, etc. are much more interesting in anthropology classes).

Anyway, none of those categories are races anyway. A black GI can be racist to an Iraqi if he’s being a jerk to him, but a white one can’t.

I was speaking more generally about how the white people I see on message boards tend to hate political correctness until there’s some mildly anti-white sentiment expressed, and then they turn into the reverend ML motherfucking K, so very against ALL KINDS OF RACISM (r).

Couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the Irish just plugging away at their work and improving their lives instead of spending all the energy on complaining about it, could it? And when you told someone your name was Sean O’Malley, well it didn’t really matter what color your skin was. (Though, to be fair, they didn’t have that whole slavery thing happening. At least not in such a blatant form)

Except Chapman had some good music. :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m going to pay attention to his speeches and music. That way I can start talking just like him. That’ll learn him! YO!!1!1!!1!1

I almost forgot. Whites have to adopt the slang. The best we’ve come up with since English is fucking 733t.

Sorry, it’s all anecdotal.

I’ve always thought of the Iraqis as Arabic, not caucasian. The Assyrians, or at least all the ones I know, feel they are caucasian and the Iraqis are not.

Sorry, I was thinking of the Ivory Coast. We could toss in Zimbabwe, too, but it’s true that whites are a minority that is persecuted. Besides, a black person could easily live in the United States, UK or France for two years and never get persecuted.

snip Dio defending his life

You seem to be paying attention to something another anonymous internet poster wrote. Who gives a fuck what some poster wrote? I’m nowhere near as rich, influential or powerful as Kanye.

Perhaps. But oh, what a piece of shit is Kanye.

As a matter of fact, no. If that was the case, then black people would have been able to attain parity just as easily.

The Iraqis I’ve known consider themselves to be white. In any case, we’re still talking about resitance to an occupying force (which is not all white, by the way), not the systematic subjegation of a minority by a majority in power.

Or are you talking about the victimization of the Kurds? If so, that has nothing to do with skin color.

Ivory Coast natives don’t hate white people, they hate FRENCH people. They’re not exactly alone in that  and their hostility is rooted in resentment of colonialism, not in racial bigotry.

I didn’t say blacks were necessarily still being persecuted in the US, I just said white people are definitely NOT.

You addressed me personally. It was only polite to respond.

Tell that to Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan. What I’m saying is, every black man and woman I currently or have worked with have spent their time striving in life rather than complaining it’s not easy. Again, I know there is still racism, I’ve seen it. But getting ahead in life starts first and foremost with what an individual does with the opportunities available. Unless you can get donations to complain that success isn’t a birthright.

You seem to think that hard work alone gets one ahead. Unfortunately that’s not the case, especially if you’re a minority. Occassionally you need to bitch. See Brown v. Board of Ed., MLK, hell, throw Malcom X in there too. Jackson, Shapton, and Farrakhan are shadows of the great bitches of the past, but they still serve a purpose.

Teh wh1ties are t3h suxxors! pWN3D!!!11!1!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Equal opportunity is a birthright, and black people historically haven’t had it. It’s not as simple as “working hard.” Working hard obviously isn’t enough. If it was, then black people would have found it as easy to find parity as Irish immigrants (who were not discriminated against for skin color but for being immigrants…abnd their persecution came from other white people). You claimed that the Irish overcame discrimination by working hard instead of "complaining.’ Your implication seems to be that black people complain and don’t work hard. Is that what you’re saying? are you saying that black people are to blame for their social and economic disparity in the US?

And when have Jackson or Sharpton or Farrakhan ever said that black people should complain instead of work hard? Cite?

Well, that’s mighty white of you to acknowledge “the whole slavery thing.”

Don’t forget the whole 2/3 of a person thing, the whole Jim Crow thing, the whole Plessy vs. Fergusson thing, the whole Ku Klux Klan thing, and the whole Southern strategy thing. And thousands of whole other things I’m glossing over.

None of these has even remotely been applicable to Irish Americans by the way. Any one of them would make the whole “work hard and equality is coming your way” thing pretty difficult, even for the ruddy-complected Irish Americans.

Well, I’m nothing if not white. Don’t take it so personal Hentor. Let your hate simmer instead of boil over for just one thread, mmmkay?
