No water pressure w/new water heater- dope plumber NAF

Please help. Got a handyman to install a new gas water heater in the house this morning. He says he only shut off the water at the heater input line and didn’t touch any other valves or inlets. Hubby says he didn’t touch anything either.

So now the water in the basement works, the bathroom faucet is fine (hot and cold), and the pressure to the kitchen filtered water output (cold) is also on. My main kitchen faucet and shower have nothing. The kitchen worked for 2 seconds, sputtered thru a bunch of air, and is now dead. Handyman says we have exhausted his handyness and he’s gone.

How is this possible and what can I do? In addition to major dental surgery, from which I still have a ton of pain, we have had contractors in the past few weeks for the oven, the drier, the roof, a plumbing vent issue (unrelated), and wood rot. I am over it and just don’t have it in me to be kind and patient anymore. I feel stupid calling in a plumber for something that seems so simple…

Crud in the pipes blocking the filter in your faucet and showerhead.

Disassemble and clean.

that would keep the sink faucet from running at all? The shower has a slow trickle, sink has nothing. Not sure I mentioned that.
I will look at them if all it takes is taking the heads off…

Yep.

Unscrew the filter on the kitchen sink faucet and see if water comes out with it off.

That did it! I needed a win today and I got one.
This house is, uh, unique, with pipes where they shouldn’t be, outlets going nowhere, etc. so I was prepared for anything-- except the obvious. If it had been one faucet I would have guessed sediment, but with 2, I doubted that.
There is water on the floor and rust in my hair now, but I don’t care, because I can take a shower!!!

Thanks, Beowulff! I never liked you in high school but I see why my teachers loved you so much. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad it was an easy fix!
Now, off to slay some innocent monster…
(Actually, I take my user name from this guy…)
