Nobel prize winner in Economics apparently "not qualified" to sit on Federal Reserve Board!

Like Ginger?

Well, these days it seems like they give out the Nobel Prize for farting, so no, the prize doesn’t impress me.

Diamond’s work though is pretty interesting stuff.
Looks to me like h Rpublicns are playing tit for tat.

Thurston in reality…but lets keep it on the down low…

The women were just a side benefit, and the Professor was so indifferent I’m not even certain that he availed himself. No, I mean think about the reasons he was so well-equipped to survive shipwreck on a “three hour tour”, and why Gilligan was always placed in a lynchpin role for every escape attempt…which, of course, were almost invariably formulated and directed by no one other than “Professor” Roy Hinkley. Questions remain as to why people could find the island but never return with help, how the crew and passengers could survive on such a meager island, and why they were always returned to the island upon every attempt to escape. There was an ominous plot afoot, and the Professor was directly at the center of it. Sadly, the show was cancelled before the writers could resolve all of the mysteries and unexplained phenomena

It was the polar bears. And the Dharma sharks.

How is that not still partisan? It’s picking a guy who agrees with them over someone who disagrees with them. Are you under the impression that it’s only partisan when political similarities have nothing to do with the actual job? When you are just hiring your friend because it doesn’t matter?

It’s not as if they are somehow great economists and actually have found flaws in his work. There is no reason other than their political ideology that they disagree with the guy, and thus want him out.

I’m not saying it’s wrong, but to claim it non-partisan is silly.

The complete Gilligan’s Island Conspiracy.

I have a somewhat different theory, but it is far afield from the topic of this thread so I’ll save it for another time.

That’s exactly what they’re supposed to do. It’s part of their job, to which they were elected.

The only ones the Repubs will agree to will be right wing, pro business, anti union, anti worker , anti regulation types who will follow orders of the bankers and wealthy. Anyone else is not qualified.

So, it’s the job of every Senator to block all Presidential nominees that the Senator disagrees with? Because that doesn’t seem like a good way to have a government that actually works.

IMHO, Obama’s about two years past the point where he should have used his recess appointment powers to keep the Treasury and Federal Reserve fully staffed during the biggest financial crisis of the last 70 years.

Peter Diamond is as centrist as they come. The Republicans set sail for their three hour tour a looong time ago.

Oh dear. I’ve read plenty of theories about Gilligan’s Island over the years. It’s a religious psychodrama about the Seven Deadly Sins. It’s about the unwitting subjects in a nefarious psychology experiment. It’s a postmodernist deconstruction of the sitcom. It’s an allegorical treatise on the Populist movement in the US in the 1890s. The characters are in Purgatory.

But this one…

This one makes sense.

Maybe you’re not famliar with the Republican Theory of Government? Because having “a government that actually works” isn’t in there anywhere.

You’re right. The entire Nobel Prize charade is now completely discredited.
