In response to the oft quoted fact that the US has a much higher rate of gun crime than other industrialized nations, it occured to me that a useful comparison might be the rate of US non-gun murders and assaults compared to other nations. Compared to Europe or Japan, how does the US rate of knifings, bludgeonings and beatings stack up? Unfortunately I have no idea where to even try to look for such statistics. Anyone?
