I don’t think you have a very good understanding of how information spreads in China. It isn’t North Korea where nearly everyone gets their world defined by some official newspaper.

To reply to the OP: A Chinese friend of mine says that her friends in China are quite gleeful/schaudenfreude-ish on social media over what the virus is doing in America.
So they are indeed perfectly aware of the harm that Covid-19 is doing in America, just not in the way you prefer.
Not sure about their attitudes of what Covid-19 is doing in Europe or other nations though.
Yep and who can forget those NJ Muslims dancing in the streets on 9/11.
The difference is, it wasn’t Muslims claiming that Muslims were dancing on 9/11.
This was going to be my reply also. The Chinese people have suffered enough, too. They are not guilty of anything. Anyone can carry a virus unknowingly while remaining symptom-free.
For what it’s worth, American views of China are now at their most unfavorable level (66%) since Pew Research Center started tracking the question in 2005.
What’s that got to do with the OP’s premise of sticking the people of China’s collective nose in it?
