North Korea Carries Out Controversial Rocket Launch

Now, now. Werner von Braun wasn’t an outsider. He was a prisoner. Important difference.

Is it true that North Koreans are getting their hands on smartphones? Will these phones have more internet access than what NK gets now? How will the regime hold up with increased access to world news and information?

Why exactly is it a bad thing that North Korea can get put satellites in orbit? Its i) a 55 year old technology and ii) technological advancement is not the preserve of just a few countries and iii) What are do going to do? Nuke Belfast?

Sure, but just having the capability is a concern and if any nation has a slender enough grip of reality to actually use it then its North Korea.

Ummmm…where does Belfast come into this discussion? And please don’t nuke it, that’s where I keep all my stuff!

If they get something high enough to put it into orbit, its classed as an ICBM and yes it can hit targets as far away as North America and Europe. Usually its a dual track situation, one program for the weapons, and the other program for the lifter.

In North Korea’s case, this is something I would call political posturing. Don’t know if you read science fiction, but there was a story called king davids spaceship, in which a political entity to get a better deal, had to prove they were just pre space enough, so that they would not get a viceroy.

So North Korea might be thinking that once they get passed a certain point with technology, they are untouchable.
Declan

I’m American (US). Many Americans are upset at China but we do not want war. We want to be at peace with China. We don’t want war with North Korea either.

America wants to be at peace but goes to war when it is necessary. We don’t want to fight people just because we want to fight.

History disagrees.

To continue the joke from their last attempted launch, they must have spent all their national resources on a shit ton of mentos and coke.

Explain Iraq then.
