And there was much rejoicing.
Yes, it’s true. I was among the 83,000 and change in attendance yesterday at FedEx Field for what turned out to be my first football game ever and Norv’s last game with the Skins. Wow, history, huh? Maybe I shoulda started going to games earlier.
Actually I don’t know jack $#!T about football, but I understood enough to know what was going on. And now I like Jeff George. He’s good. He can throw far.
Anyway, my 2¢.
They are going to have to pay the next coach about $2million a year. That is going to be the only way that they’ll be able to get somebody to work for Dan Snyder.
I never quite get this concept. It was the stupid players that lost the game; fire them. :D:D
Moving this to MPSIMS.
YESSSS!!! I guess Dan the Man read Michael Wilbon’s column yesterday–Terry Robiskie will be head coach for the rest of the season. Words cannot express my joy at this moment.
Norv Turner kind of reminded me of owning an AMX. Craploads of potential, but plagued by problems stemming from the organization itself.
Then, once all the parts finally come in, and you realize you have years of tweaking ahead, you really just want to say “the hell with it” and try to snag a Hemi on the cheap.
I don’t know. I don’t think he sucked as a coach, but how many heartbreaking letdowns can I suffer before I just want to walk away?
Did Norv suck? Or is he just unlucky? Or cursed?
When you realize that two or three games this year they should have won, but lost due to shitty kicking, I don’t think it’s entirely Norv’s fault. They could easily be 10-3 now if Chip Lomiller were still their kicker and as good as he was when he was good.
I read online somewhere yesterday (ESPN.com?) that the Skins had two chances to sign Joe Nedney this season. Once was in the pre-season, but Norv convinced Dan that Brett Conway would get healthy to start the season.
Then, after Nedney was picked up by Oakland for emergency, filling-in-for-Janikowski duty, and subsequently dropped, the Skins had another chance. This time, though, Nedney chose to go to Carolina, presumably because the owner there isn’t Peter Angelos’ evil twin.
So, you could say that half the kicking problem was Norv’s fault (for his unwavering faith in Conway), and the other half is Dan’s fault (for being a psycho no intelligent person would work for).
Anyway, I know too much about this for an Eagles fan.
