Not a Cecil question, but still would like an answer about airplanes.

I fiddle around with a program called x-plane, which lets me design, build, and fly my own airplanes etc…

In the interests of reality I like to get all the parameters correct that I can. I am building a turboprop plane that uses the engines from the TU-95 bear, NK-12MV or NK-12MP. While I can find the HP rating of these engines, What I really would like to know is the weight, the length, width, and height.

Im hoping someone here will know or have some way of looking it up. I have spent many fruitless hours searching the net.

Thanks,

Fry

Do you mean the dimensions of the plane itself or the actual engines? Googling “tu-95 bear dimensions” gives this right near the top:

The actual engine dimensions is what I am looking for. Thanks for trying though.

The Bear used Kuznetsov NK-12 engines, driving counter-rotating propellers over 18 feet in diameter.

There are some blueprint-ish drawings of the Bear here - given the known dimensions of the fuselage, you ought to be able to scale out the engine dimensions.

Sadly I have not been able to extrapolate the dimensions from this yet. I suppose someone might have a book or know how to find the manufacturer (I have not had luck there either, I guess they dont have a web page or email).
Thanks for the info.

Scalable cross-section.

The Kuznetsov Design Bureau was merged with a number of other aerospace suppliers in the Volga valley, after the fall of the USSR, to form NK Engines.

Wow, thanks ElvisL1ves, that is an amazing find. Thank you so very much.
