Notary Public in NYC?

I need to find a notary public in Manhattan. I can’t believe what a chore it is–in the other rinky-dink towns in which I lived, I could go down to the corner and find some guy who was a notary public, mailed packages, sold insurance, etc. Here, where I merely need walk 20 steps to buy anything I can dream of at any hour of the night, I can’t find one.

The yellow pages have a few listed. Call a local bank branch, they often have them or know who does. I know of a few scattered over the island, maybe if you give me a smaller area I might know one nearby.

Also, try any office associated with immigration services - they need notarys (notaries?) constantly, and often have several in-office.

Feel free to email me.

Just go to your nearest law office. If they don’t have one in-house (and they almost certainly will), they’ll know where to find one close by.

Toad, they’re everywhere, you just don’t see them. Just about every **law office ** (as raudh said), bank and **real estate office ** has one on staff.

My favorite notary place was downtown, I think near the Holland Tunnel. They had a big yellow storefront sign that said (something like): Deli, Army-Navy Surplus, Notary Public. It always gave me a giggle.
