Just stumbled across that, and had to share. My inner schoolboy is still sniggering.
Hudibras was a parody of heroic epics, and this section abruptly brings in Greek gods to sneer at their invocation i such epics, but I don’t think Butler intended the meaning modern ears take from this set of four lines.
