I shouldn’t stick my head into this mess, but… Are you aware of the business practices called commission and mark up? As in: I’ll sell your stuff, but I’ll take a cut to keep the store up and running and make a buck from it.
Apple’s made billions from this. As has Amazon, Walmart, Sears and Billy Goats Tavern (maybe not billions for the latter). I find it confounding that in the consumer society that is America, someone calls a mark-up a tax, using scare quotes.

Elmo knows that pronouns are things trans people have, and Elmo has a stick up Elmo’s ass because Elmo’s girlfriend left Elmo for a transwoman and because Elmo’s trans daughter hates Elmo and wants nothing to do with Elmo.
And since Elmo considers Elmoself to be the main character of the universe and thinks the rest of us are NPCs, the reality of other people’s lives are irrelevant to Elmo.
IAN octopus and do not speak for him, but it read to me [ETA: and apparently to T_O_W_P also] as though his most recent post was agreeing with the post of Smapti’s that he replied to, and amplifying it.
Namely, Smapti said that it would be wrong not to comply with Musk’s expressed preference to be referred to by the “pronoun” “prosecute”. And ISTM that octopus agreed, and further noted that SDMB rules in fact require such compliance.
Of course, all of us in this thread know that “prosecute” is not in fact a pronoun and that Musk most likely knows that too, and is just imitating the posturing of “anti-woke” right-wing jackasses by pretending to use it as such. And Musk’s tweets never seem AFAICT to correct or complain about anybody using standard he/him pronouns to refer to prosecute, so I doubt any of us would actually get modded for doing the same.
Still, I for one am happy to comply with Musk’s idiotic fake “preferences”, if only to demonstrate to prosecute that such compliance really isn’t particularly difficult or onerous.
