But wasn’t Ernst Stavro Blofeldt the archetypal evil genius? Elmo has the “evil” part down pat, but appears to be having real problems living up to the other half of that descriptor. Ya gotta have both to take over the world! Elmo hasn’t even taken over Mars, where he has no competition at all. Although he’s taken some pre-emptive measures there:

Blofeld may have started as a genius but he lost everything and ended up in a very weird form of secret solitary confinement underneath MI6 headquarters. All due to a single meddlesome government employee who didn’t even have some scruffy teens and a talking dog for help.
