Why can you not give just a mass murderer the benefit of the doubt that he might be a Hindu, hence the swastikas, and also proud of his Nordic roots, hence the Siegrune which he clearly was unaware of any association they had with the SS, Nazis, or White Supremacy? I mean it’s just as plausible of an explanation, and Elmo is a genius, donchaknow?
Hmmm, hang on a second, didn’t I just read something recently in this thread about Elmo responding to a report on declining birth rates in Nordic countries as “A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far”? Huh, it almost begs a comparison between Elmo personally combatting a collapsing Nordic birth rate by having 10 children of his own and the Lebensborn that Himmler had such a hard-on for and those Crosses of Honour of the German Mother the Nazis handed out to German women for birthing multiple children for the master race.
What’s to challenge? He said what he said. Does anyone think he’ll backpedal, clarify, or tone down? Elmo is the smartest ballsiest guy in the room, and calling him out will bring a beatdown force him to storm out of the interview like a petulant 7-year-old.
I had to look this up, since it seemed strange for Musk to pick this particular target.
Apparently, the mall shooter - Mauricio Garcia - was identified as a white supremacist by Bellingcat. I presume that because the guy has a Latino-sounding name, many on the right decided that this identification must be nonsense.
There are some general rules in life like, “If you’re drinking before noon, you’re an alcoholic.” One of those is that if you’re getting slapped down in topics of the sort to attract Snopes, then you need to get off the internet, throw away the tabloids, and figure out a better way to live.
Are we sure he still isn’t talking about the [REDACTED] Supremacist Texas Mall shooter? Because I mean come on, swastikas and Siegrunes aren’t unequivocal proof any anything. Just look at Elmo, he cosplays as Ironman in his profile pic, but he clearly isn’t Tony Stark. Maybe Mauricio Garcia was just cosplaying as a Nazi.
It shouldn’t be socially acceptable to openly espouse racism or fascist insurrections as a legislator (or as anybody else, really), yet here we are anyway.
I think it definitely is, after the CNBC interview he’s gotten some criticism for pushing back on that label. This will lead to more of that, since he’s had little (no?) problem with other false claims and made some himself, and it’s all “freedom of speech.”
That would be called “Free Speech”. I’d much rather live in a world where speech ‘thrives’ than one in which the gatekeepers get to decide which thoughts are too dangerous for the proles to hear.
