Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 1)

Also, I am seeing reports from people that the new X platform is blocking users from including “twitter” in their screen name. You know, like “Joe Schmoe on Twitter” or whatever, so people who aren’t constantly online will know what this new “X” link is supposed to be. The platform throws an error that “twitter” can’t be in the handle, because they are clumsily trying to enforce a hard cutover to the new brand.

Funny, because the http is still twitter.com. Trying to manually type x.com just redirects me to twitter.com.

And it’s only now just occurred to me that x.com would be insulting one of the greatest video games
ever made.

I’m starting to think there’s a good chance Musk dies from an OD in the coming months. He definitely seems to be over-self-medicating. And who is going to tell him no?

If he’s going to die soon, I reckon it will be from some stupid stunt he’s involved in to make himself look cool, whether it’s being run over by a self-driving Tesla, getting blown up in an exploding rocket, or falling down a hyperloop borehole.

Maybe a medical first as he overdoses on himself?

That would be remarkable considering how much tolerance to himself he’s built up.

Compared to most people, for whom the LD50 is very low.

This is not an enthusiastic view of either Musk nor Zusk.

… and why?

we def. need to stop over-policing everything and have “deep-structures” come down on freedom-loving individuals who are freely living their freedoms in freedom.

Our founding fathers did not want that…

Are you a Commie or what?

Yup. Take your preferred headline, Photoshop it onto an image of a photogenic newsie holding it over his head in a standard EXTRY, EXTRY, READ ALL ABOUT IT! pose, make that the first image in your online posting of the item, and Thorvald Stronginthearm’s your uncle!

He seems to have strayed a bit from the “path to salvation”.

I’m sure he would have said he died a martyr’s death.

I have been following this case, as it’s appalling on so many levels, and deeply tragic. This is just one more element. Good on Smapti for reporting it, even if it went nowhere.

I don’t think Smapti reported him to anyone, unless he’s also @Medic_Russel on Twitter.

Oh, I thought he was. I don’t tweet (or X), so I’m not familiar with the ins and outs of the platform.

I think I know the answer but I’ll ask anyway: Has Linda Yaccarino - the CEO of Twitter - made a single change since she got in? We get updates daily of what Elon’s up to with the platform, but does she even get a word in edge-wise?

Yaccety Yacc. Don’t talk back.

As far as I can tell her job description is “use business-speak to try to rationalize the things Elmo blurts out when he’s high as balls”.

Am I the only one looking at the image of the side of a building that @Smapti linked and saw the haloed lightpost as a meteor heading straight for the X? And if so, did anyone else smirk at it, only to sigh and realize it was just an optical illusion?

Lastly, if anyone else had all of the above responses, please feel in joining me in hoping it’s prophetic of a small meteor plowing through an uninsured Xitter building while it’s unoccupied.

I need someone to do this for me posting after drinking hours here on The Dope.

I can’t offer much in the way of salary, but the benefits suck, too.
