Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 1)

Now Musk appears to bring out the Jewish “secret” conspiracy trope:

Shiftless.

A collection of responses to Musk’s latest episode:

Elon’s right about one thing. It is pretty ironic to sue the ADL for defamation after reinstating Nazi accounts to Twitter and blaming Jews for all of the problems at the company. It’s just not ironic the way he thinks it is.

Does he think? Or just act?

More and more the erratic impulsiveness is just the drugs talking. I’ll lay 4-to-1 there’s a barely-covered-up overdose in the next six months.

There is no such thing as “acting without thinking”, that’s a misnomer. All action stems from thought. Even an impulse is a quick thought that leads to instant action.

Clearly he had some thought about how ironic it would be for the “Anti-Defamation League” to be defaming someone. The same sort of thought that leads people to claim that BLM is racist or Antifa is a bunch of fascists using violence to force change.

Now, contemplation is another thing entirely. I don’t believe that Musk puts a lot of thought into what he posts. He has an idea and it instantly goes on the web without any sort of consideration or filter beforehand. He shares that sort of digital diarrhea with Trump.

My knee reflex differs.

In that case you didn’t act. That’s like saying that a sneeze or a hiccup is an action. It’s something your body is doing on its own, without a need for you to act.

Current functional MRI and PET brain scans show that many complex and complicated actions are performed by the body before the ‘thinking’ parts of the brain come on line. Current hypotheses point towards the ‘thinking’ brain parts are busy thinking of a reason for why we just did what we did.

Human behavior is amazingly complex and poorly understood.

“Post hoc ergo propter hoc”*

Having worked in advertising, I have seen a lot of design work retrofitted to “suit” the brief. I am not suprised that humans are built to reason our way out of instinctive action.

* "after this (an event occurs), therefore because of this (a different event occurs). A logical fallacy.

Damn, I knew something seemed off when I wrote that. Ah well, there are plenty of worse things to get wrong than misremembering racist caricatures.

I truly wish that these things were not permanently burned into my memory.

How many times is Musk going to re-learn how painful discovery is? He gave up and bought Twitter rather than continue the lawsuit that was revealing embarrassing documents. Now he is accusing the ADL of ruining Twitter’s advertising business. A lawsuit will require the release of Twitter’s attempts to court and bring back advertisers, as well as those advertisers’ very embarrassing reasons for cutting ties.

Most blowhards know how to lie loudly in public and tell the truth quietly in court. Musk insists on being loudly stupid in every possible venue. At this point I have to assume he has a very elaborate humiliation fetish.

and no, you don’t make the marketing teams of Coca-Cola, Nestle, Ford or Procter happy by dragging them into a courtroom … they will def. take their moneys to other, less volatile outlets in the future.

IANAL … they probably dont have to follow invitation to court in a civil case, I guess???

sounds like a good idea before you think 10 seconds about it … in line with what we have been seeing for 1,5 years on twitter.

So far, this is just Musk being a blowhard in public. I doubt very much that he will actually sue the ADL in court.

Andrew Torba is the founder of Gab, described by Wikipedia as “a haven for neo-Nazis, racists, white supremacists, white nationalists, antisemites, the alt-right, supporters of Donald Trump, conservatives, right-libertarians, and believers in conspiracy theories such as QAnon”.

Is it just me or does the thumbnail pic of Elmo in that HuffPost article look like he’s turning into Kim Jong Un?

For comparison here’s a fresh pic of Kim from last week

Well, you don’t seem to have been the first person to notice a resemblance:
