I used to show my horse 4h western. We had to dress western i.e. cowboy hats etc. I have never seen a hat with the low part of the crown in the front. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist. I also dated a guy in a country band and sang at country jams (I know but whatever) anyway, he always wore a stetson. In my not expert opinion he is not wearing it incorrectly. Why on earth would he move the band around? Also, the bands are usually sewn to the hat so turning it around would be difficult to say the least.
Because he’s a poser?
That makes no sense to me. If he’s a poser he would want to wear the hat correctly. As he is. Moving the band would make it “backwards” thus making him not a “real cowboy” or whatever it is he’s going for. As I said: moving the band would take some scissors and forethought. As far as I can see the hat is correct and I don’t see why everyone is so concerned by it. There are so many more things to criticize this guy for.
Also note, the narrow point of the crown is most often if not always forward. I don’t know why this is bothering me, but his hat wearing is not the thing that is negative about him. Yes, he’s a phony. He’s never been seen in western hat and boots before to my knowledge. He’s in Texas trying to be all macho so presto he’s suddenly decked “Texan”. The way the hat is worn is not really the issue here.

I only follow Elmo news in this thread. Not knowing the context, he looks so much like a poser that I didn’t realize that the picture was of him just by looking at it. Honestly, even knowing that its him it doesn’t look like him. He looks ridiculous, the proto-beard scruff looks particularly ridiculous on him. It’s like he’s cosplaying a cowboy, badly. Hmm, almost like he looked like a bad cosplay of Ironman in his leather getup.
