This sounds dangerous as hell! “Hey! He’s not looking! Catch!”
Yeah, I think for some people, it’s tempting to let the car handle as much of the driving duties as they can get away with. The new software rev seems to target those drivers.
I prefer to have full control of the car, except when in light interstate traffic. Even then, I don’t trust the Autopilot much—I keep a hand resting on the wheel and a foot by the accelerator.
At least a bit of the blame has to go o Tesla for overhyping the capabilities of their self-driving.
But an over-the-air-update is a pretty simple ‘recall’.
It probably is, and kudos to Tesla for having that capability. But the fact remains that almost every vehicle they’ve ever made needs to have a dangerous feature fixed. And this is directly attributable to the hype from the same psychopath who promised that he’d have a million settlers on Mars sometime around about now.
Seriously. That’s like a gun having a feature where it shoots you if it detects you’re handling it with the safety off.
They should make the feature safer by having the car veer hard left if the driver is sleeping while autopiloting.
The fact that Musk is in charge and they can do over the air updates is a very good reason to not buy a Tesla.
Is this different than any other car company? I have an outstanding recall for my Ford Escape, and it’s probably the fourth or fifth one I’ve had to deal with. Millions of cars were recalled for Tabata air bag issues.
Tesla has more recalls per vehicle than any other car company, by quite a lot. But if they are calling every OTA update a ‘recall’, I’m not sure its a fair comparison. But it’s also possible that Tesla releases cars with more software defects than others precisely because it CAN fix problems at low cost. Whether or not that’s a good idea is another matter.
They’re not. Recall notices get issued by the US Department of Transportation. They don’t send them out for “Elon thinks your speedometer should be in Comic Sans now”.
Another matter? It’s the important matter that we’re discussing.
Elmo must be getting tired of his new toy, because now he wants to start his own uni.
Well, that’s one way to do things. Basically start a training program to supply his companies at lower wages while the ‘students’ pay for it
He put 2.2 billion into that foundation in 2022, before his Twitter troubles started.
I hope Alex Jones and Andrew Tate aren’t going to be the head teachers.
Elon seems to love them both so much.
That was my exact thought - I foresee lots of unpaid ‘internships’ with Tesla where students get ‘high value education and hands on experience’ while they’re still paying tuition to the school.
Oh, and not to mention, any ideas that they come up with in school or during the ‘internship’ belong to Musk, not themselves. Okay, the last is true at most places, but this all seems to be an entirely selfish move.
Considering Texas education policies and business friendly attitudes, I see it doing wonderfully - for Musk.
Yeah, for some reason I’m half expecting ElmoU to be something comparable to PragerU.
I can see ‘Introduction to Fighting the Woke Mind Virus’ as a required class on the curriculum.
Right. I can’t decide if they will allow females or not.
On the one hand, they want to rape and ogle them. But on the other hand, they want to force them to give birth every 9 1/2 months. Plus there’s all that housework to do and dinner to cook.
Decisions decisions.
Your source got the abbreviation wrong. It’s NHTSA.
In other Xitter news, I’ve a new follower: Elon Reeve Musk.
Probably not to be honest.
I’ve owned two new cars (I used to drive used cars, then bought a new Toyota that I drove for 17 years, and I’ve had my Chevy for 6 years - I like pay a car off and drive it as long as I can).
Both needed recalls for serious issues. The Toyota was an airbag issue, and I think the Chevy was something to do with braking.
It does seem to be something fairly routine for any automobile manufacturer.
So Elon is trying to do now an AI rooted in distrust and hate.
Do you want the evil god like AI from I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, Elon? Because that is how you get evil god like AIs.
