I have to agree with Tom. I post at Mastodon (2 accounts) and have a Bluesky and Threads account. I’m disappointed that they really don’t have the traction of Twitter-X, at least yet.

To be fair, it’s a pain in the butt to convince Windows 11 to install without a Microsoft account. It ought to be a freely available option, rather than something you have to trick the installer into allowing.
That said, I just googled how to do it rather than whining on social media about it.

My first response was going to be “how did he not know about this”, but I allowed for the idea he’d just not actually gotten a new laptop or installed Windows himself in a long time, and just not kept up with OS news.
Still, if you’re at all technical, I would think the first thing you’d do after trying the obvious (disconnecting the device from the Internet) would be to Google it. Then, sure , complain about it. But then you’d know that, yes, Microsoft used to offer the option, and, yes, everyone installing Windows 11 saw the change.

i am afraid I have little sympathy for Mr. Musk, except one: he chose to install Windows, instead of any flavour of “free speach” and free *nix variations. I would suggest Ubuntu, from his birth country. It’s decent.
