Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 1)

At least do an anchored whole-string search and replace, not any partial substring anywhere in any context. Jeeze!

You’ve demonstrated more competance as a developer in this one sentence than Musk has ever done in his life.

It’s really bad when a regex is a better idea than anything you thought of yourself.

Well, wouldn’t you know it, but there was an era in my life where I was leaning heavily on TRANSEX (the fist made all the difference to me)

link IS safe for work, but spoilered for an added layer of suspense

And is anyone surprised that the people who think they’re going to be an “everything app” can’t even handle a regex?

You take 2d4 points of psychic dawizard.

But how could this have happened? When Elmo fired most of the Twitter programmers, didn’t he use his awesome skillz to retain only the very best top performers and fire all the rest? Didn’t he insist that they send him examples of their code so he could personally evaluate their brilliance from code samples? Are you suggesting that there may have been something less than perfect with this strategy?

My absolute favorite part of this is he had them print them out on actual paper.

Still one of my favourite XKCDs even though I haven’t touched Perl in 20 years.

Pours one out for the late ColdBrew50, the Dope’s biggest XKCD fan.

A DC judge has shut down Elmo’s SLAPP-by-proxy against Media Matters.

I propose that when rich assholes file frivolous lawsuits like that against individuals or organizations just because they don’t like them, the assholes should be assessed fines proportionate to the wealth that enabled this frivolous abuse of the legal system in the first place. So Elmo should be fined maybe around $10 billion in each such case. Not only would that eventually slow him down, but think of what that money could do when applied to public education, health care, public services, and community improvements!

Irony:

So she is "X"ing out free speech? That’s the message I’m getting.

Sigh, I supposed the pay and self- medicating drugs are sufficient.

To my delight, today they approved me today as a Community Notes writer, and for the first time I can see the sausage being made. And oh what sausage it is! Every note seems to have contra-notes hanging from it like ticks, many of them lacking citations or even linear thought (all of which can be rated).

This should be fun.

A clbuttic mistake.

Oof. As much as I dislike Musk, I hate to see layoffs anywhere. And these are huge.

Bravo! I laughed.

Clearly fake news. Elmo said antisemitism was caused by the Jews, and he’s a smart man who spent $44 billion to buy a social media platform to demonstrate his free speech absolutism so he must be right. He’s also protecting humanity from the danger of runaway AIs doing things like manufacturing fake news. And he saved us from a nuclear apocalypse. On top of all of that, he put a man on Mars by 2021 and is colonizing and terraforming it right now.

I expect an edict from Elmo next week that henceforth it shall be called Muskaforming® and the use of any other term to describe the Glorious Improvement of Mars will be subjected to the free speech absolutism of being absolutely deleted before being seen by anyone.
