Anti-SLAPP laws exist to prevent just that thing, but AFAIK they are implemented only in state law for certain states, and there is no federal equivalent. There really should be.
Too bad Reid Hoffman can’t step in and help GARM fight this obvious SLAPP lawsuit.
It was a very quick decision to shut down operations, but I suppose focusing resources on fighting and winning this case sends an important message as well.
Are they actually fighting it? My impression was that they were shutting down so they wouldn’t have to fight it. GARM appears to be a small part of the WFA, a marketing trade group for advertisers, that may have a stronger focus on ethics than some other organizations. They probably decided it was best to cut off GARM rather than put the whole organization at risk. I guess the question remains how much their elimination will actually help Musk. I mean it’s not as if this will decision will bring the advertisers back.

“They don’t want to interact with Elon Musk, period,” she said. “They’re getting harassed. You know what you do when you’re getting harassed — you move away, you leave the situation.”
They are. I’m pretty sure “shut down the company and then say neener neener while coming back under a new name” isn’t a super viable legal strategy. 
I suspect may have been in response to an earlier version of my post, which suggested that idea. After I realized that GARM was part of a larger organization I realized that that wouldn’t work and so removed that bit. So, yes I agree.

According to the link I posted,
GARM has over 100 members. Four of those members — CVS, Unilever, Mars and the Danish energy company Ørsted — were named defendants in the suit filed in federal court in Texas Tuesday.
So, just shutting down GARM will not make the suit go away.

It’s been meme’d on a lot, IIRC Elmo twitted a variant of it with even more black men added posted alongside something else with the Office meme “they’re the same picture” in his usual display of not being racist. If I also recall correctly, it’s in this thread somewhere.
So, in a nutshell, what Elmo means is the top picture is of someone about to get fucked by four non-white people, and so is the bottom one.
